This submission's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article—that is, they do not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject (see the guidelines on the notability of people). Before any resubmission, additional references meeting these criteria should be added (see technical help and learn about mistakes to avoid when addressing this issue). If no additional references exist, the subject is not suitable for Wikipedia. This submission does not appear to be written in the formal tone expected of an encyclopedia article. Entries should be written from a neutral point of view, and should refer to a range of independent, reliable, published sources. Please rewrite your submission in a more encyclopedic format. Please make sure to avoid peacock terms that promote the subject.

Cvetko Popović-Vranovački (Serbian Cyrillic: Цветко Поповић - Врановачки; Donje Vranovce near Lebane (Leskovac), Ottoman Empire, around 1775 - Kopajkošara near Niš, Revolutionary Serbia, 20 May 1809) was a merchant and voivode in the army of Karađorđe's Serbia during the First Serbian Uprising[1][2]
Biography
[edit]Cvetko Popović was born in Donje Vranovce near Lebane not far from Leskovac around 1775. He was a respectable merchant and a mechanic in his area[3]. He was the leader of the Jablanica insurgents in the First Serbian Uprising and Karađorđe's highest-ranking Bimbaša, together with Ilija Strelja and Sava Dedobarac. During the First Serbian Uprising, he had about seven hundred armed men from this area under his command.[4] Cvetko was a fearless opponent of the Turks and Arnauts and initiated the restoration of the church in his area, by gathering around him a large number of devout Christians skilled in masonry, who renovated the church and gathered a large number of young people with weapons who defended the work on the church from the enemy day and night.[4]
He was killed fighting the Turks near Kopajkošara near Niš, on 20 May 1809.
