Cosmic FinOps
Cosmic Finops is a theory develop by Sergio Molina based in his experience with Cloud Optimisation and Finance Management from a perspective of Science Methods and Theoretical Physics. It is result of a period working in Finos, and developing the theory from 2023 to 2024.
The concept of Cloud FinOps summer the methods to ensure a better optimisation of the cost of cloud technology and obtain the best result of investment in technology.
Sergio Molina mix the traditional Scientific Method (Observe, Measure and Think) with the Cloud FinOps standard framework ( Operate, Inform, Optimise) to obtain better result with minimum resources.
As a result of these activities, and mixing the Minkowski space-time light cone diagram with the yearly finance budget concept. The graphic result and Cloud Technology characteristics shows than the financial budget is not the limit for the innovation anymore and the actions to optimise the usage of cloud technology resources can change the dimension of the product results. The new Variable Budget (Extended Budget) would be greater than original Finance Budget with an elongation ratio.
The objective of the optimisation is deform the budget cone i to a more spheric shape. The curvature of the final result has a similar effect as the Riemann–Christoffel curvature tensor in the Theory of General Relativity.
Indeed, the elongation ratio is a Tensor function of market activities, exchange rates, activities of central teams to rate negotiation but highly impacted by architect designs and engineers skills and decisions.
The evolution of the Theory of Variable Budget is call General Theory of Extended Budgets. Sergio Molina defines the Business Ecosystem as a metric or products, projects and investment events each of them with its Variable Budget curvature. The result is a field distribution than represent the Organisation Technology Investment as a whole, with a granular view of each product.
The budget cones act as brakes while more spheric budget act as accelerator of innovation and results.
The influence of Albert Einstein and his Special and General Relativity are evidence and the author always recognised its inspiration in Physics and the capacity to literally see space and dimension as Fields and Vectors. Cosmic FinOps consists in the capacity to read the Budget Fields as a live ecosystem and influence in the curvature of each of the elements.
