Choi Jong-ho (Korean: 최종호; born October 12, 2000), known by his stage name Jongho, is a South Korean singer and actor.[1] He is the main vocalist of the South Korean boy band Ateez.[2][3] As a solo singer, he is known for his original soundtrack singles for the Korean dramas Reborn Rich (2022), Our Blooming Youth (2023), and Lovely Runner (2024).[4]
He made his acting debut portraying Yoon Hyuk in the television series Imitation (2021).[5]
Career
[edit]2017 – present: Pre-debut and debut with Ateez
[edit]In late 2017, Choi competed on the reality survival show Mix Nine alongside future Ateez bandmates Hongjoong, Wooyoung, and Mingi as representatives of their company, KQ Entertainment. Choi was eliminated in Episode 10, ranking 43rd.[6]
In 2018, Choi was revealed to be the main vocalist of Ateez.[7] He debuted with Ateez on October 18, 2018 with the lead singles "Pirate King" and "Treasure."[8][9]
2021 – present: solo activities

[edit]In 2022, Choi released his first solo single for a Korean drama, "Gravity," as part of the original soundtrack for the series Reborn Rich. His second single, "Wind" was released in 2023 for the drama Our Blooming Youth.[4] Choi's third single, "A Day," recorded for Lovely Runner (2024), became his first charting single in South Korea, reaching a peak position of 133 on the Circle Chart in May 2024.[10]
Choi has competed on various Korean music programs, such as King of Mask Singer and Immortal Songs: Singing the Legend. He also appeared on LeeMujin Service as a musical guest in 2022.[11][12][13]
Acting career
[edit]In 2021, Choi made his acting debut as Yoon Hyuk in the KBS2 drama Imitation (2021), which also co-starred Ateez bandmates Yunho, Seonghwa, and San.[5] He participated on two singles for the series' OST, "Malo" and "Amen," as a member of his character's fictional band, Shax.[14]

Personal life
[edit]In August 2023, Choi took a hiatus from his activities to undergo surgery and rehabilitation therapy due to severe pain from a meniscus rupture.[18][19]
