Chairman Haleem Baloch is a prominent political leader associated with the politics of Baloch nationalism in Pakistan. Born on January 1, 1979, in the city of Turbat, located in the Makran division of Balochistan, he has been an active figure in the province’s political and social movements. He received his early education in Turbat and later pursued higher education there.
Haleem Baloch was notably involved with the Baloch Students Organization (BSO) from 2009 to 2011, where he served as the central chairman. BSO is a progressive, secular, and liberal student organization that focuses on promoting the educational and national rights of the Baloch people. During his time with BSO, Baloch worked to advocate for the educational rights of Baloch students and their broader national aspirations.
In 2011, Baloch joined the National Party, a political group that emphasizes the peaceful struggle for the restoration of Baloch national rights, including addressing issues of exploitation and repression by the state of Pakistan. His leadership extended to working as the political secretary to Balochistan's Chief Minister, Dr. Abdul Malik Baloch, from 2013 to 2015.
Aside from his political work, Chairman Haleem Baloch is also an accomplished writer. He has contributed to the Balochi literature through short stories and regularly writes about pressing issues such as human rights abuses in Balochistan, the rights of religious minorities, transgender rights, women's empowerment, and education. His writings reflect his commitment to advocating against state oppression, enforced disappearances, and exploitation in the region.
Baloch’s activism and writing continue to make him a key figure in the struggle for Baloch rights and national recognition, particularly in the face of ongoing challenges from the Pakistani state.[1]
