Cannon River Wilderness Area is a county park located in Rice County, Minnesota. The park contains 850 acres of remnant Big Woods ecosystem. Habitats include maple-basswood forest, calcareous fen, floodplain, and oak savanna.[1] The park is contained to a valley carved by the Cannon River, a tributary of the Mississippi River.
The park was founded in 1976, and contains five miles of hiking trails, four primitive (no utilities) campsites, a picnic area, and a canoe launch.[2] There are two entrances to the park, one on the east side of the Cannon River, and one on the west side of the Cannon River.
