Canadian Hindu Chamber of Commerce
[edit]The Canadian Hindu Chamber of Commerce (CHCC), founded in 2021, is a non-profit organization in Canada that advocates for the interests of the Canadian Hindu business community. The organization supports economic growth, cultural preservation, and community development, welcoming members from diverse ethnic and linguistic backgrounds within the Hindu community. CHCC operates on non-profit principles, focusing on unity and collaboration among Hindus engaged in various business ventures across Canada.[1] [2] [3] [4] [5] As of 2024, CHCC is recognized as an official stakeholder by the Federal Government of Canada.[6]
History
[edit]The Canadian Hindu Chamber of Commerce was established in 2021 when leaders in the Canadian Hindu business community sought a unified platform to support the economic interests of Hindus in Canada. The founding vision aimed to empower Hindu entrepreneurs, encourage business growth, and preserve cultural heritage within the Canadian Hindu community.[2] [3] [7] [8]
Activities
[edit]CHCC has organized events such as the Invest India - Invest Canada summit, aimed at strengthening business ties between India and Canada. These events also address issues faced by Canadian Hindus and promote awareness within the wider community.[9] [10] [11] [12]
The organization also hosts an annual Dhanteras Gala to recognize Canadian Hindus for their contributions to society. The event brings together individuals from diverse backgrounds, including politicians, business leaders, and community representatives, to honor outstanding achievements.[13] [14]
International Representation
[edit]In 2023, the CHCC participated in the World Hindu Congress, represented by Vice President Kushagr Sharma, who served as a panelist.[15]
Trade Delegations
[edit]In 2024, the Canadian Hindu Chamber of Commerce was involved in strengthening bilateral trade ties between Canada, Nepal, India, and Bangladesh as part of an official trade delegation. This initiative led to the signing of nine Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) and included meetings with key political and business leaders, including the Prime Minister of Nepal.[16] [17] [18] [19]
