Benjamin Putnam was part of the Putnam family during the Salem Witch Trials, and his Putnam cousins were some of the main accusers. Benjamin Putnam was notable in that he and his wife unsuccessfully tried to defend Rebecca Nurse, one of the accused who would later be executed. Benjamin also took in after her imprisonment the young child known as Dorothy Good who also was one of the accused as she lived with him from 1708-1715. Dorothy Good would go on to live with Benjamin's son, Nathaniel Putnam.[1]
