The Belt and Road International Day is celebrated on December 16 every year, and is an international folk festival established by the World Peace Ribbon Organization (WPRO)[1] which is a celebration of the Belt and Road Initiative by scholars such as Chen Entian and Ji ChaozhuAn[2] international folk festival initiated by an international cooperation initiative.

Origin of the festival

On December 16, 2013, Master Xingyun,[3] the founder of Fo Guang Shan in Taiwan, went to Qinglai Hall of Yunnan University to hold a Buddhist lecture entitled "Seeing the Power of Dreams"[4]  in Chinese, December 16 is both homophonic and corresponding to the Belt and Road Initiative, easy to remember, International Qisan Society Former Chairman Chen Entian and other scholars decided to designate December 16 as the International Day of the Belt and Road[5] To this end, Chen Entian and Ji Chaozhu,[6] former Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations, with the support of Ban Ki-moon,[7] then Secretary-General of the United Nations, and Irina Bokova, then Director-General of UNESCO, founded the World Peace Ribbon Organization and established the Belt and Road International Day in the name of the World Peace Ribbon Organization.[8]

Festive events

On December 16th, the "Panda Zhongzhong" welcomed the "Belt and Road" International Day and the release ceremony of the long scroll of the painter Liu Zhong's "Silk Road National Treasure Five Continents" was held in Beijing, and the selected works of the 5th "I Love Giant Pandas" International Children's Postcard Painting Exhibition were also announced.[9]
