The Hamek War[1][2] was one of the biggest battles in the world. It was fought in Hamek area[3] near Kirkuk in 17/5/1992 when the Ba'ath Party tried to enter Hamek village and destroy it Ba'ath army had to cross a bridge to reach the village but Peshmerga put a bomb there and when Ba'has army went to the bridge they detonated the bomb and started defending

From 06:00 am, a heavy fighting broke out inside the houses of Hamek[4]. The enemy attacked the village with all kinds of heavy and light weapons, including mortars, heavy artillery and machine guns  In the morning, most of the houses in the village had collapsed. The fighting continued until 07:00 pm. As a result, the ba'hs was defeated and 62 soldiers and jashes were killed, leaving the bodies of 43 soldiers. After this war, Saddam Hussein nicknamed Mama Risha to the Iron Man[5][6]

This great battle is even mentioned in a famous Kurdish drama called Gardelul[7]
