Anurradha Prasad (born 8 December 1962) is an Indian journalist who serves as the Editor-in-Chief of News 24[1] and the Chairman and Managing Director of BAG Networks.[2][3][4]

Early Life and Education

Prasad was born in Patna, Bihar,[5] into a Chitraguptvanshi Kayastha family. Her father, Thakur Prasad, was a senior advocate at the Patna High Court and a founding member of the Jan Sangh, the predecessor of the Bharatiya Janata Party.[6] Her brother, Ravi Shankar Prasad,[7][8] is an Indian politician and lawyer associated with the Bharatiya Janata Party.[9] She completed her master's degree in Political Science from the University of Delhi.[10]

Career

Prasad has had a distinguished career in journalism and media. She has been recognized for her contributions[11] to the industry, including being inducted into the Indian Television Hall of Fame.[12] She has also been active in various media associations[13][14], having been re-elected as President of AROI (Association of Radio Operators for India).[15]

Personal Life

Anurradha Prasad is married to Rajeev Shukla.[16][17][8], a Congress politician and the Vice President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).[16]

Awards and Recognition

  • GR8! Women Achievers Award 2003 and 2005 – Prasad was honored at the GR8! Women Achievers Awards for her significant contributions to journalism.[18][19]
  • Pt. Haridutt Sharma Award (2015) – Anurradha Prasad was conferred this award on 15th May 2015, recognizing her excellence in the field of journalism.[20]
  • Impact Magazine's "50 Most Influential Women" (Rank 26)** – In 2014, she was recognized among the 50 most influential women in Indian media.[21]
  • FICCI Women Excellence Award (2009) – Prasad received the FICCI FLO Women Excellence Award for her leadership in media and journalism.[22]
  • ITA Hall of Fame Award (2009) – She was inducted into the ITA Hall of Fame for her contributions to Indian television.[23]
