Soreike! Anpanman: Yomigaere Banana Shima (それいけ! アンパンマン よみがえれバナナ島) is a 2012 Japanese anime children's fantasy adventure film directed by Hiroyuki Yano from a screenplay by Tomoko Konparu. Produced by TMS Entertainment, the film is the 24th film in the Anpanman franchise, itself based on the Anpanman books by Takashi Yanase and stars the show's voice cast alongside guest stars such as actress Yoshino Kimura and comedians Tsutomu Shitara & Yuki Himura of Bananaman. The film was released on July 7, 2012 by Tokyo Theatres.[1] The movie was dubbed into English as Anpanman: Revive Banana Island! and was released on Tubi on April 15, 2021.[2] It was shown at the same time as the short film "Go! Anpanman: Rhythm and Play! Anpanman and the Strange Parasol." This was the first film in the Anpanman franchise to have its animation production duties being credited to TMS' 3xCube division.

Production

Yoshino Kimura was confirmed to be the voice of the central character, Banna on March 29, 2012.[3] Bananaman was confirmed to be one of the guest stars on May 26th of that year. Osamu Shiritara voices Sutten (Slip) while Yuki Himura voices Kororin (Slippery).[4]

The film's theme is reconstruction to reflect the aftermath of the events of the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake.

Box office

The film grossed ¥142.3 million during its first weekend in Japan.[5] The film went on to gross over ¥510 million in Japan.[6]
