- Comment: Resubmitted without any changes. To show notability, the draft needs to be based on independent, secondary sources that talk about Anand Pon himself, not mainly about SMART College. Please see the information in the notice above. bonadea contributions talk 10:37, 21 October 2024 (UTC)
- Comment: The sources aren't in English, however, they seem to only briefly mention Anand. I dream of horses (Hoofprints) (Neigh at me) 05:52, 30 September 2024 (UTC)

He is the founder and former Chief Executive Officer of SMART College and Security Plus Academy, institutions that have contributed to the field of technical and vocational training in Malaysia.
Personal Life
[edit]Anand Pon was born on 30 December 1956 at Ave Maria Maternity Hospital in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia, to S. Ponnudurai and Say Wai Peng. He attended La Salle Brickfields School and graduated with the class of 1973. In 1981, he earned a Bachelor of Agribusiness from Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM). While conducting research for his thesis in 1981, he met Susan Valladaras, whom he later married on 9 December 1987 at Saint Francis Xavier Church in Petaling Jaya.
Career
[edit]Before SMART College
[edit]Having started as a certified New York money trader, Mr. Anand worked at Arab Malaysia Merchant Bank, Arab Malaysian Securities and was later posted to Kota Kinabalu, Sabah where he served for more than 2 years. Afterwards, Mr. Anand returned to the HQ and joined the money market treasuries, bond market and trader. He then joined SJ Securities before moving to Merril Lynch Australia and Merril Lynch Singapore. After that, he returned to Kuala Lumpur to work at Jardine Flemmings.
Gerbang Perdana
[edit]After working in various investment banks, Mr. Anand moved on to Gerbang Perdana, a construction company based in Petaling Jaya. He was one of the directors[1] and played a role in the design and construction of the 2nd Integrated Custom Immigration Complex between Johor Bharu and Singapore.
During the signing off of the bridge project, issues were faced whereby due to the lack of local companies or experts who could perform the sign off, a foreign company had to be commissioned. Displeased by this, the Chairman suggested that Mr. Anand, who at the time was the youngest board member, do something about the situation.
International Centre for Security Management (ICSM)
[edit]In 2005, Mr. Anand established a training and consulting company called the International Centre for Security Management to train and improve professional expertise in Law Enforcement, Security, Investigation and Safety industry in Malaysia. During this period, Mr. Anand created many events such as the First World Security Forum in 2006 which was officiated by the then Deputy PM Datuk Seri Najib.
In 2007, the forum brought global experts in the field of Law Enforcement, Security Investigation and Safety training for Officers in Charge of Police District (OCPD) in Kuala Lumpur to utilise Closed-circuit Televisions (CCTV) as crime prevention tools. This was officiated by the former Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar.
The forum also held the 2nd World Security Forum in Singapore, partnering with Certis Cisco, which was officiated by both Malaysia and Singapore's Ministers of Home Affairs in 2008.
SMART College and Security Plus Academy
[edit]In 2012, Mr. Anand sought to address gaps within the industry by developing Malaysia's first accredited Diploma programs in Enforcement and Investigation through the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA). This initiative led to the establishment of SMART College and Security Plus Academy (SPA) after securing a Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) license. Subsequently, SMART College expanded its program offerings to include disciplines such as Occupational Safety and Health (OSH), Industrial Hygiene, and Digital Marketing.
SMART College and Security Plus Academy initially operated from a modest facility in Gasing Indah with two classrooms and 40 students. Over time, the institutions grew to occupy a 17,000 square foot campus, serving over 400 students at SMART College and 800 students at Security Plus Academy. Graduates have since pursued careers in various governmental sectors, including police, customs, immigration, and firefighting, as well as in private enterprises.

[edit]On the 29th of October 2023, Mr. Anand passed away following his treatment for his illness. This left a major impact on both SMART College and SPA as he was heavily involved in all matters regarding the two institutions.
