Submission declined on 29 December 2023 by Ca (talk). I think it is too soon for an article. The band only has released one album so far, and while it has gotten some short reviews from niche publications, more coverage is needed to base an article. Besides plain interviews, there is not much to go off of. Declined by Ca 9 months ago. |
Submission declined on 29 November 2023 by BuySomeApples (talk). This submission's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article—that is, they do not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject (see the guidelines on the notability of music-related topics). Before any resubmission, additional references meeting these criteria should be added (see technical help and learn about mistakes to avoid when addressing this issue). If no additional references exist, the subject is not suitable for Wikipedia. Declined by BuySomeApples 10 months ago. |

- Comment: The Kerrang review is good but most of the other sources don't help meet WP:NBAND. BuySomeApples (talk) 02:26, 29 November 2023 (UTC)
- Comment: The sourcing situation still needs improving, and the external links must be removed from the body. Johannes (Talk) (Contribs) (Articles) 07:11, 26 August 2023 (UTC)
Acid Throne is a British doom metal band from Norwich, Norfolk. The group takes influence from classic rock, hardcore punk and black metal.....[1]
History
[edit]Acid Throne was founded in October 2021 by singer-guitarist Chris Kemp, drummer Chris Farrar, and bassist and guitarist Matt Stembrowicz. Soon after the band formed, they secured a slot on the Jägermeister stage[2] at Bloodstock Open Air Festival thanks to a joint win at Bloodstock's 'Metal to the Masses' competition in 2022. Acid Throne played at Bloodstock Open Air on Sunday 14th August 2022.[3]
The band released its first EP, The Demo, in April 2022,[4] before recording its first full album, Kingdom's Death, at Foel Studio in Wales in April 2023. The album was released digitally[5] and on vinyl during September 2023, with CD release supported by Trepanation Recordings.[6] Kerrang Magazine gave Kingdom's Death a 4/5 review,[7] while Distorted Sound scored it 9/10.[8] The album entered the UK Doom Charts shortly after its release[9]
Other independent reviews of Kingdom's Death and The Demo include The Razor's Edge,[10] GBHBL,[11] Outlaws of The Sun[12] and the Robert Carrigan podcast[13]
The video for "War Torn", the first single released from Kingdom's Death, was shot by independent filmmaker Scott Jarvis and premiered with Decibel Magazine[14] shortly ahead of the album launch.
In July 2023, Acid Throne toured England with Irish doom band Tooms, playing venues in Chelmsford, London, Bristol and Southampton. The tour followed an extended run of one-off shows, including working with Burner on their album release show.[15]
Acid Throne next completed a UK tour with Cancer Bats as Bat Sabbath during January 2024, ahead of confirmed appearances at Desertfest London[16][17] and Stoomfest.[18] Following a surge in popularity off the back of this tour, Acid Throne were featured in the Orange Amplifiers "Spotlight" series[19] and received praise from Metal Hammer in February 2024, with the magazine's Jonathan Seltzer describing one live show as a "caustic, claustrophobic doom stomp, weilding tungsten-weight riffs" and going on to say that Acid Throne sound like "an army clubbing its defeated opponents even further into the mud".[20]
Since Bloodstock, Acid Throne have played to festival crowds at Desertfest, Stoomfest and Doom by The Sea, completed multiple UK tours and are now set to play in Iceland, Germany and Belgium in 2025.
