Aarushi Nishank known professionally as Arushi Nishank is an Indian actress, producer, social activist, environmentalist. She has been in lead role in “Wafa Naa Raas Aayi” by T-series co starring Himansh Kohli,  "Teri Galliyon Se" by T-series co starring Gurmeet Choudhary and "Jo Tumko Jhoot Lage" by Zee Music company co starring Vishal Singh, highlights her versatility as an actress. She has also been working actively on social causes and also raised awareness through Kathak.

Early Life And Education

Arushi was born on 17 September 1991 in Kotdwar, Uttarakhand to Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal, India's former Union Cabinet Minister for Education Ministry of Human Resources Development) and the former Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, and her mother’s name is Late  Kusum Kanta Pokhriyal. Aarushi pursued her education in BA political science and honours in philosophy from Banasthali Vidyapeeth university, Rajasthan, MBA in HR management- IMS College, Uttarakhand. She then attended Cambridge University London to upskill herself in  International Business development and recently she completed her PHD in human resource from Uttarakhand Technical University, where she excelled academically and developed a keen interest in social issues and community development.

Career As Actress

Arushi Nishank made her debut as an actress in the song "Wafa Na Raas Aayee" which was lunched by T-series. This song sung by Jubin Nautiyal, featuring Arushi and co-starring Himansh Kohli, has achieved over 305 million views on its official YouTube page. It marks a significant milestone in Arushi's career. She then embarked on the triumphant journey and proved as a versatile actress in "Teri Galliyon Se launched " launched by T-series  co starring Gurmeet Choudhary  has over 70million views and "Jo Tumko Jhoot Lage" launched by Zee music company co- starring Vishal Singh.[1] These collaborations likely provided her with opportunities to explore different creative avenues. Such appearances contribute to her overall profile as a multifaceted individual with interests  spanning across different domains.

Arushi made her debut as a producer with the Uttarakhandi film "Major Nirala" which is a significant milestone in her career. The fact that the film won numerous national and international awards underscores its quality and the recognition it received both domestically and abroad. This success highlights Arushi's talent and vision as a producer, as well as her commitment to promoting regional cinema and storytelling. It's a testament to her ability to bring compelling stories to the screen and to garner acclaim for her work on both national and internationalplatforms.

Arushi has achieved a remarkable feat by producing the Hot star commissioned show "Kaphal" within just two years.[2] The show is based on the simple people of Uttarakhand and is filmed amidst the scenic landscapes of the region. This accomplishment highlights Arushi Nishank's dedication and vision in bringing stories from Uttarakhand to a wider audience through the medium of television. In 2024, she produced Life Hill Gayi, which became one of the most-watched films and ranked second on a popular list. She is spearheading an ambitious project named "Tarini”, recounting the historic circumnavigation by six female naval officers in 2015 is a remarkable story that deserves to be told. Securing the rights from the Ministry of Defence adds a layer of authenticity and credibility to the project. By aiming to showcase the extraordinary achievements of these women through drama, adventure, and laughter, "Tarini" has the potential to not only inspire but also empower women worldwide. The combination of drama and adventure, coupled with moments of laughter, promises to make the story engaging and impactful. This project has the potential to make a significant contribution to the portrayal of women's achievements and empowerment in media and entertainment. Project “Tarini” the hindi feature film has now collaborations with Dr. Kumar Vishwas, as well which will give more strength on the writing part of the story.

Women Empowerment

Arushi embarked on her journey as a social activist and environmentalist at a young age, driven by her passion for education and social justice. She initiated several projects aimed at improving access to quality education for underprivileged children, particularly girls, in rural areas of India. Arushi has been actively involved in advocating for the rights of women and children, focusing on promoting gender equality and empowerment through education and skill development programs. She spearheaded the inaugural International Women Empowerment Programme (IWEP), aiming to address critical issues concerning women in India and the UAE, promoting equality and addressing gender disparities globally. Recognized as the Chairperson of the International Women Empowerment Summit & Awards, Arushi orchestrated the India Chapter of IWES-2019, collaborating with governmental bodies and UNICEF to address pressing issues hindering women's advancement.[3][4]

Social Activist

In addition to her work in education and women's empowerment, Arushi has been a vocal advocate for environmental conservation and sustainable development. She has been involved in various campaigns and initiatives aimed at raising awareness about environmental issues, promoting renewable energy sources, and advocating for policies to mitigate climate change. Arushi's appointment as the promoter of 'Namami Gange' by the Ministry of Water and Rejuvenation acknowledges her efforts in raising awareness about the importance of preserving and rejuvenating the Ganges River.[5] As the national convener of the Sparsh Ganga Abhiyan, she has made significant contributions to conserving the Ganga River, cleaning and revitalizing it, while also raising awareness about the importance of water conservation and environmental sustainability. Arushi is often referred to as the "River Lady" due to her extensive efforts in river conservation and rejuvenation.[6]

On October 2nd ,2019 on the occasion of Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri’s birth, a monumental ocassion for all Indians, Arushi started a large-scale plantation drive named “Selfie with my Sparsh Tree”to promote afforestation. More than 150 schools and 80 colleges with an addition of 5 lakh volunteers united globally to execute the mission which turned into a massive fruition as 2 lakh tress have been planted until today.[7]

Achievements and Recognitions

Throughout her career, Arushi Nishank has received numerous awards and accolades in recognition of her contributions to society. She is the only women from Uttarakhand to be listed in Forbes Middle East for her contribution to social work and women empowerment.[8][9] She has been honoured with Global Water Women Entrepreneur Award 2020 for her contributions to Ganga cleanliness and conservation.[10][11] Presented by the Energy and Environment Foundation, the award recognizes her efforts in raising awareness about water conservation amidst the crisis faced by 22 cities in India. She was honored as one of the Top 20 Global Women of Excellence in the U.S.A Congressional Women's Day celebrations in Chicago.[12] Recognized for her pioneering work in initiatives such as Sparsh Ganga, water conservation, climate change education, and promoting Green India for Girl Child.

She has been honored for her work in education, women's empowerment, and environmental conservation, earning praise for her innovative approach and tireless dedication to improving the lives of others. She has been felicitated as the 'Fresh Face of Bollywood' by Sheikh Yacoub Al Ali and HE Arefa Al Falahi at the Global Inspirational Awards and Fashion Festival in Dubai has been awarded for her outstanding work in Bollywood as an actress and producer. The appreciation received worldwide for her Kathak ballet "Ganga Avtaran" is a testament to her skill and creativity as a performer and choreographer. She was featured for women empowerment in Forbes Middle East. She was associated with UNEP national and international platform Arushi, was honored with the Champions of Change Award in 2019. In 2021, she became a guest speaker at TEDx Mount Abu School.
