The 2025 World Sambo Championships will be an edition of the World Sambo Championships, organised by the International Sambo Federation. Competition will be held in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan from 7 to 9 November 2025.[4]
On June 18, 2019, the President of Turkmenistan issued a decree to host the 2020 World Sambo Championship in Ashgabat, with organizational work carried out in collaboration with the International Sambo Federation. However, due to the global epidemiological situation, the International Sambo Federation’s Executive Committee decided to postpone the championship to 2025, a decision supported by Turkmenistan’s Ministry of Sports and Youth Policy and the National Martial Arts Federation.[5] The championship will be held at the Martial Arts Complex of the Olympic Village in Ashgabat.[6]
The tournament will feature 31 medal events in Sport Sambo for men and women, Combat Sambo for men and women, and Sambo for the visually impaired (SVI-1 class) for men, catering to athletes with total blindness.[7]
