Valleys that aren't valleys

[edit]

Mercifully, nobody's added this category to Lynn Valley though a knee-jerk response might yet happen on that count; Lynn Valley as most editors here know is a neighbourhood, not a valley in the geographic/region sense. it occurred to me that other valley placenames in BC should definitely NOT get this category:

No doubt there are others around the province; these ones struck me as worth noting here.Skookum1 (talk) 15:00, 14 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Just searched Basemap (use "[letter]% valley" for wildcards): Christian Valley Locality 82E/10

Some of those probably need disambig'ing. The "locality" entries like Nemiah are probably valleys; but not necssarily....and I don't really like that Nemiah is in teh valleys cat; i.e. there's a physical valley named Nemiah Valley, but the name really only means the community; many "valley" listigns in BCGNIS/Basemap are uninhabited, or nearly so.... And I just had to add here Valley of the Moon, which is near Cariboo Mountain/Mount Fosthall area west of Upper Arrow Lake....that link probably goes to Idaho or other places....but now I'm curious why this palcename exists...guess I'll check BCGNIs when I'm done here....Also Valley of the Rocks in the Rockies, on the AB border.Skookum1 (talk) 15:27, 14 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

here is the first page of five pages of results for "% valley" at BC Names, those extant valley articles that do not yet have citations or coords can probably be found on these pages].Skookum1 (talk) 05:15, 24 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
