1972 tornado season below average
[edit]Although the first F3 tornado in 1972 occurred on January 13 in Waynesboro, Georgia there were no F5 tornadoes and only four rated F4.
The F4 tornadoes were
- Ratliff City, Oklahoma on April 19
- Jetmore, Kansas on April 30
- Indianapolis, Indiana on May 14
- Waukegan, Illinois on September 28
On March 28, two F2 tornadoes hit Woodville, Florida, on April 5, an F3 tornado killed 6 people in Vancouver, Washington and damaged four boat moorings in Portland, Oregon with another F3 tornado in Keizer, Oregon, and on June 12, yet another F3 tornado injured an elderly woman in Creston, Washington. On May 9, an F3 tornado struck Elkhart, Kansas. On June 22, an F3 tornado touched down at Laurel, Maryland. On June 18, an unconfirmed tornado killed 4 people in Key West, Florida and on June 19 another unconfirmed tornado killed 3 people in Everglades City, Florida while two F2 tornadoes in North DeLand, Florida caused no casualties. Also on June 19, an F3 tornado struck Coffee County, Georgia. On July 3, an F3 tornado injured seven people in Gilmanton, New Hampshire. On August 10, an F3 tornado struck Prescott, Arizona and an F2 tornado caused 40 injuries in Tempe, Arizona. On September 28, an F3 tornado hit Wind Lake, Wisconsin.
