[edit]Is the category of people, places, and things associated with the Sierra Club really sufficient clear for a category? — Arthur Rubin (talk) 01:35, 2 April 2010 (UTC)
- Could you suggest an alternative wording or category description? I intend to use a fairly narrow criteria for adding places. For example, I've added the LeConte Memorial Lodge in Yosemite Valley, but not Yosemite Valley itself. I've added the John Muir National Historic Site where Muir lived and worked during his Sierra Club years, but not Muir Woods National Monument, which is named in his honor. Would "closely associated with" be better? Cullen328 (talk) 14:46, 2 April 2010 (UTC)
- I think you have a handle on what you want in the category, but we need a description that would allow editors in "the encyclopedia anyone can edit" to have an idea what they're doing. I think you're aware of the problem, so I'll let you think about it. Remember, though, that "watching" the category does not watch the articles in the category; you have to check to see if someone has added inappropriate entries. — Arthur Rubin (talk) 15:41, 2 April 2010 (UTC)
- I appreciate the input, especially as this is the first category I've created. I've noticed that most categories don't have much of a description of their criteria. I am aware that some categories are subject to "overcategorization" but doubt that will be a problem with this one. I will watch this category and verify that new entries by other editors are appropriate. As I have fallen into a bit of a Sierra Club specialty here on Wikipedia, I will pay attention and learn as the category fills out. Thanks again. Cullen328 (talk) 01:22, 3 April 2010 (UTC)
