Should "endangered" by replaced by "threatened" in all these subcategory names, as more generic? HLHJ (talk) 16:20, 22 April 2017 (UTC)

- The result of the discussion was: merge/delete as specified by nom (non-admin closure) DannyS712 (talk) 11:37, 20 April 2019 (UTC)
- Propose merging Category:Species endangered by sugarcane plantations to Category:Species endangered by agricultural development
- Propose deleting Category:Species endangered by coffee plantations
- Propose deleting Category:Species endangered by rubber plantations
- Nominator's rationale: WP:SMALLCAT and uncited, i.e. the single member articles in these categories, Common box turtle and Agile gibbon, do not mention threats from these specific crops. The gibbon is in another sibling category Category:Species endangered by oil palm plantations which is more worth keeping, hence there is no need to merge the second and third categories. – Fayenatic London 13:24, 10 April 2019 (UTC)
- Support - there are other dubious categories within Category:Endangered species by reason they are threatened. Oculi (talk) 20:34, 10 April 2019 (UTC)

- (quoted from Wikipedia:Categories for discussion/Log/2019 April 10). Per this discussion, it may be necessary to find several species with one cause of endangerment before creating the category, and to include cited text statements of the cause of endangerment in the species article (in the absence of such a statement, the IUCN redlist link from the taxobox will probably contain a source for one). The World's 25 Most Endangered Primates has plenty of material for this list (and stub articles for the older primates on the list). I would welcome any help with these categories, especially any semi-automated tools, as the job is on a discouraging scale. HLHJ (talk) 22:45, 20 April 2019 (UTC)
- @HLHJ: I agree with your conclusions, and will have no objection if those categories are re-created with such justification. – Fayenatic London 06:02, 21 April 2019 (UTC)
