Category:Emigrants from the German Confederation to the United States
This category is for people who came to the United States from the formation of the German Confederation in 1815 until it was dissolved in 1866. In the north it was replaced the next year by the North German Confederation, in the south the Kingdom of Bavaria, Kingdom of Württemberg, Grand Duchy of Hesse and the Grand Duchy of Baden would remain fully indepdent until 1871. In general if we know the specific country people came from, such as the Kingdom of Prussia, Grand Duchy of Hesse, Kingdom of Saxony, Kingdom of Hanover, Grand Duchy of Baden, Kingdom of Bavaria, etc people should be placed in the category for that specific place, eg. Category:Prussian emigrants to the United States, Category:Emigrants from the Kingdom of Saxony to the United States, etc, but we do not always know, and some states were not large enough to create noticeable emigration streams.
