Early life
[edit]Aaron Orsini grew up in the Chicago suburbs.[1] At the age of 23, while pursuing a degree in Multimedia Arts, his psychologist diagnosed him with autism. Following his diagnosis at the age of 27, and enduring some personal losses, Orsini ventured West, where he encountered his first experience with LSD. Orsini reportedly states that it was this first time that led to his discovery to a profound sense of joy and a newfound human comprehension that had eluded him before.[2]
Career
[edit]Orsini’s first book Autism on Acid written in 2019 was influenced by his first LSD experience which he found to be impactful and inspiring.[3] This was the inception for his Autistic Psychedelic community in 2020, which platforms various types of peer to peer resources, that focuses on the intersection of psychedelics and neurodivergence.[4]
Inspired by the formation of the Autistic Psychedelic community, Orsini went on to write his second book Autistic Psychedelic in 2021. This work chronicles the stories of over 40 contributors of whom are neurodivergent and have used psychedelic substances to gain deeper insights about themselves and the Neurotypical world.[5]
Orsini’s journey has propelled him into the role of a provider as the psychedelic autism collaborative research co-author partner for the University College of London. Additionally, he has taken a position of lecturer at both Naropa University and Alma Institute. Orsini has continued traveling, writing, researching, lecturing and helping the Neurodivergent community live a better life.[6]
