1987 New Year Honours
The New Year Honours 1987 were appointments by most of the Commonwealth realms of Queen Elizabeth II to various orders and honours to reward and highlight good works by citizens of those countries, and honorary ones to citizens of other countries. They were announced on 31 December 1986 to celebrate the year passed and mark the beginning of 1987 in the United Kingdom,[1] Australia,[2] New Zealand,[3] Barbados,[4] Mauritius,[5] Fiji,[6] Grenada,[7] Papua New Guinea,[8] Tuvalu,[9] St Lucia,[10] St Vincent & The Grenadines,[11] Belize,[12] Antigua & Barbuda,[13] and St Christopher & Nevis.[14]
The recipients of honours are displayed here as they were styled before their new honour, and arranged by honour, with classes (Knight, Knight Grand Cross, etc.) and then divisions (Military, Civil, etc.) as appropriate.
