Zagorskoye (Russian: Загорское; Lithuanian: Peleninkai) is a rural locality in Chernyakhovsky District of Kaliningrad Oblast, Russia. It is located in the region of Lithuania Minor.[3] It has a population of 516 (2010 Census);[4] 681 (2002 Census);[5]
History
[edit]The village was founded in 1539. In the late 19th century, the village had a population of 410, partially Polish by ethnicity, mostly employed in farming and cattle and horse breeding.[3] Cattle and horses were sold at markets in Gierdawy and Welawa.[3]
Under Nazi Germany, the village was renamed Strigengrund to erase traces of non-German origin.
