Xavier Scott is an American football safety for the Illinois Fighting Illini.
Early life and high school
[edit]Scott attended William T. Dwyer High School located in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. Coming out of high school, Scott was rated as a three-star recruit, where he decided to commit to play college football for the Illinois Fighting Illini over schools such as Air Force, FAU, and Pittsburgh.[1][2]
College career
[edit]During Scott's first two collegiate seasons in 2022 and 2023, he appeared in 23 games where he notched 72 tackles, 12 pass deflections, two interceptions, and two forced fumbles for the Fighting Illini.[3][4][5] In week two of the 2024 season, Scott notched eight tackles a sack, a forced fumble, two interceptions, and a touchdown, as he helped the Fighting Illini to a win over the Kansas Jayhawks.[6] For his performance during the 2024 season, Scott was named first-team all Big-Ten, as well as being named a Jim Thorpe award semifinalist.[7][8]
