World Championship of Legends Cricket is a England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) approved Men's Twenty20 (T20) cricket league founded and owned by Harshit Tomar on the advice of cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar in 2024 and co-owned by Bollywood Megastar Ajay Devgn.[2][3]
Veteran cricketers including Yuvraj Singh, Brett Lee, Kevin Peterson, Shoaib Malik, Shahid Afridi, Chris Gayle and Jaques Kallis played and marked the league with their involvement. The first season of the league is won by India Champions by beating Pakistan Champions in the final.[2][3][1][4]
England hosted the inaugural season of the league in July 2024 and there were six participtaing teams from the nations India, Pakistan, Australia, England, West Indies and South Africa. The second season is announced to happen in 2025[1][5][6]
Inaugural Season
[edit]The first season of WCL spanned 10 days with 18 matches, creating memorable moments. Notable matchups included:
- India Champions vs. England Champions (1st Match) July 3, 2024, India won by 3 wickets and clinched a thrilling victory.
- India Champions vs. Pakistan Champions July 6, 2024, In a packed Edgbaston stadium, Pakistan emerged victorious by 68 runs.
- Semi-finals July 12, 2024, India defeated Australia by 68 runs, while Pakistan continued their winning streak against West Indies by 20 runs.
- Finals July 13, 2024, The much-anticipated final match saw India Champions beat Pakistan Champions by 5 wickets, securing the league's inaugural trophy.[7][8]
