Early life

[edit]

Woodson Bradley was born on February 5, 1973.[1] She earned a Bachelor’s degree from Hollins University.[1] After graduation, Bradley taught abroad for one year.[1]

Career

[edit]

For twelve years, Bradley worked in sales for Fortune Hi-Tech Marketing, a company that sold health and beauty products as well as services like Dish Network.[2] She attained the position of Platinum Sales Manager and participated in promotional activities for the company. In 2013, Fortune Hi-Tech Marketing was shut down by the Federal Trade Commission, which deemed it an illegal pyramid scheme.[2][3] Bradley later transitioned to a career in real estate and was a realtor as of 2024.[1]

During the 2024 North Carolina Senate election, Bradley ran as the Democratic candidate for the 42nd district.[1] Her campaign addressed issues such as abortion rights, public education, the cost of living, and public safety.[1] She opposed North Carolina's abortion ban after 12 weeks and expressed support for restoring protections aligned with Roe v. Wade.[1] Bradley's opponent in the race was Stacie McGinn, a Republican and former attorney for the North Carolina Republican Party.[1] The seat, covering parts of Mecklenburg County, was previously held by Rachel Hunt, a Democrat running in the lieutenant gubernatorial election.[1] Mecklenburg County certified the final vote counts on November 15, showing Bradley leading McGinn by 204 votes out of 124,334 cast, a margin of 0.16 percent.[4] McGinn requested a recount.[4]

Personal life

[edit]

Bradley is a survivor of domestic violence and sexual assault.[1] She is a mother.[1]

Bradley has been involved in community organizations, including Safe Alliance, the Rotary Club of Charlotte, and the Mecklenburg County Domestic Violence Speakers Bureau. She has volunteered for the Special Olympics of North Carolina, Charlotte Rescue Mission, and Classroom Central.[1]
