Wiktor Nilsson (born May 17, 2002) is a Swedish professional ice hockey forward currently playing for Frölunda HC of the Swedish Hockey League (SHL).
Playing career
[edit]Nilsson started playing as a youth for Nynäshamns IF and Nacka HK, he represented Stockholm Syd (Stockholm's southern district) at TV-pucken in 2017, scoring one goal and one assist in six games as he helped the team to a bronze medal at the tournament. Nilsson joined Djurgårdens IF to play junior hockey in 2018. He made his professional debut with Djurgården in the Swedish Hockey League (SHL) during the 2020–21 season, playing 13 games. During the 2021–22 season Nilsson played in eight SHL games but spent most of the season playing junior ice hockey in the J20 Nationell where he had a breakout season, scoring twelve goals and 24 assists for a total of 36 points in 33 games. In the J20 playoffs Djurgården reached the Anton Cup final where they lost to Linköping HC, earning Nilsson and the team a silver medal. Djurgården's men's team were relegated to the second-tier HockeyAllsvenskan for the 2022–23 season, where Nilsson played his first full season at senior level, scoring 15 goals and seven assist for a total of 22 points in 51 games. During the 2023–24 season Nilsson improved his point total to 39, after scoring 14 goals and 25 assists. In the playoffs, playing for promotion to the top-tier SHL, Djurgården reached the best of seven final against Brynäs IF. In game three of the finals Nilsson delivered an illegal hit to Brynäs' Simon Bertilsson after only twelve seconds into the game, he received a match penalty and was subsequently suspended five games,[1] missing the rest of the finals where Djurgården lost 0–4 in games to Brynäs who earned the promotion to the SHL.
Having established himself as a productive forward at the HockeyAllsvenskan level Nilsson signed a two-year contract with Frölunda HC in the SHL prior to the 2024–25 season.[2]
