"Relevant" but not welcome: why?
[edit]Information about your pet gecko does not belong here, nor does information not available at wikipedia, even if it is "relevant" — such as e-mails or conversations at meetups.
I'm not sure what you are driving at here, or why information about meetups is irrelevant. Is this so even if the meetup is documented in Wikipedia space? -- Jmabel | Talk 22:46, 11 October 2005 (UTC)
- Bascially that personal information or info obtained through e-mails does not belong in a wiki bio. For example say at a meetup I tell maltmomma that I think Jmabel is "big cabalist meanie", she can't put that in a wikibio. It's the same principle arbcom used when they say they won't accept e-mails as evidence- such things are easily forged. -JCarriker 22:54, 11 October 2005 (UTC)
- But, for example, I would think that it was relevant to my wikibio, if there is to be one, that at the first Seattle meetup there was a discussion that Dan Keshet and I started and soon summarized as Wikipedia:Researching with Wikipedia, the substance of which came together in a week and which has hardly changed since. (and, anyway, I'm a small cabalist meanie.) -- Jmabel | Talk 00:08, 12 October 2005 (UTC)
- Yes, but that is available on wikipedia. -JCarriker 01:26, 12 October 2005 (UTC)

People adding their names
[edit]=-/ I don't wanna be the bad guy, I really don't. But the guidelines say something about not-just-every-editor. I think the original list made was good, and even it had some people perhaps not totally notable (like myself). What are we to do with these people who keep adding themselves? My wikibio?
[edit]I was just wonderng, by me creating a bio of myself for my user page, that doesn't effect anything here does it?
- PS. if you wish to view it its at this link. — Moe ε 02:48, 5 December 2005 (UTC)
wonderfools's permission.
[edit]The edit for wonderfool to grant permission was given by User:Fooled...err..1, who's beleived to be a wonderfool sock puppet, and that was the first time the name appeared. I only saw this after I started working on it. Does this count as permission, and does the wikibio that I've started on need to be blanked/deleted? I thought I'd just start at the bottom and work my way up... not working too well so far. --AK7 22:01, 26 February 2006 (UTC)
