- "[ Suriname ] is the only Dutch-speaking region in the Western Hemisphere that is not a part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands." Click on Dutch-speaking and the article informs us that Flemish people in Belgium also speak Dutch (the Flemish article itself however says that Flemish is a dialect of Dutch). AFAIK the Kingdom of Belgium is not part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. I'm sure this comes as much a surprise to King Albert II as it does to me. -- Александр Дмитрий (Alexandr Dmitri) (talk) 09:12, 27 November 2009 (UTC) PS according to the Belgium article, the official languages are Dutch, French and German -- Александр Дмитрий (Alexandr Dmitri) (talk) 10:03, 27 November 2009 (UTC)
- Hi -- according to our article, technically the Western Hemisphere is everything west of the prime meridian and east of the international date line, so Belgium isn't in it. I agree it's confusing, though, since "western hemisphere" gets used colloquially to mean Europe & the Americas -- maybe it would be better to just say "in the Americas". -- phoebe / (talk to me) 14:57, 28 November 2009 (UTC)
I'm interested in the fanwiki thing, but I don't do mailing lists. If someone knows of an normal talk page where this is discussed, could you drop me a line on my talk page? Thanks. - Peregrine Fisher (talk) (contribs) 04:47, 29 November 2009 (UTC)
