Question about a possible related article
[edit]Are there any plans for an article on finding reliable sources offline? One weakness I have noticed while reading Wikipedia articles is that they are heavily weighted towards online sources, & often ignore the existence of print media. While I could blame this on Google for making online searches so easy, those of the older generation remember that finding useful material in the library has always been a challenge: that is why reference librarians are invaluable for finding source material. But I wonder just how many Wikipedians have even heard of Reader's Guide to Periodical Literature, let alone used it -- or any one of its numerous related publications. -- llywrch (talk) 15:26, 4 August 2008 (UTC)
- Llywrch, can you drop your note at the talk page of WP:FCDW? And add it to the proposed topics at the workshop page? Are you willing interested able to help write it? SandyGeorgia (Talk) 15:30, 4 August 2008 (UTC)
More databases
[edit]Is there not a longer list of such databases? Ones like Astrophysics Data System and those in Category:Digital libraries would also be a good starting point (if a tad overwhelming). What would also be helpful is more detail on which parts (or all, if that is the case) of such libraries are available without subscriptions. Carcharoth (talk) 14:36, 10 August 2008 (UTC)
- Most of the databases I am aware of are not available without a subscription - that is, without access to a research library. Awadewit (talk) 14:40, 10 August 2008 (UTC)
