New rules...?
[edit]I replied to an email from an organizer (not sure if they want to be identified) inviting me to be a judge, saying I was interested and had some suggestions for rule amendments. That was in July, and I haven't heard much back since. I guess I'm not a judge given that, but I'm wondering if anything was done about my rules proposals. (I'm actually quite busy IRL at the moment, and won't be able to devote much time to WAM until about 11/24 -- plenty of time for me to write four articles, but perhaps not enough to be a judge.) Note that since I sent that email, the official winner of WAM 2017 has been indeffed for copyright violation, so the amended rules would seem to be even more relevant than before. - Hi, Hijiri88! I only saw this now, but I think you raise some very important points. Some of the WAM 2018 organizers (myself, Saileshpat and a couple other people) are in Tel Aviv for the GLAMWiki Conference, and we'll make sure to discuss your proposal later today during the meetup we're convening later. --Sky Harbor (talk) 08:00, 3 November 2018 (UTC)
Do animals count?
[edit]I just saw the banner, and since I mainly work on extinct animals, I was wondering whether articles about extinct animals from Asia count? FunkMonk (talk) 22:20, 1 November 2018 (UTC)
- @FunkMonk: I'm confident that that would count as "Asian content". And even if you're not sure whether it does, please be bold and create the articles. Bahnfrend (talk) 00:57, 2 November 2018 (UTC)
- Thanks, and of course, more views on this are welcome. I am also thinking of a geological formation, the Aral Formation of Kazakhstan, which I think would be even more likely to apply? FunkMonk (talk) 01:02, 2 November 2018 (UTC)
- Looking at the lists of articles created during the 2015 edition, it seems many animal articles have been created, so seems it should be fine. And there are even three animals in the logo! FunkMonk (talk) 02:43, 2 November 2018 (UTC)
- Just to confirm: we have a very broad definition of what Asia is. So long as the topic in question has a link to the continent, please feel free to submit it! :) --Sky Harbor (talk) 07:55, 3 November 2018 (UTC)

Is the tool not functioning?
[edit]Chongshan Street Mosque was submitted, but it's scarcely 70 words long. Hijiri 88 (聖やや) 10:35, 2 November 2018 (UTC)
Asian Art Month with Metropolitan Museum of Art and prizes
[edit]I'd like to invite enthusiasts to sign up at Wikipedia Asian Art Month 2018 2018 and find some Asian art topics they would like to write about with Met images. Grand prizes will be offered as well.--Pharos (talk) 23:59, 2 November 2018 (UTC)
