Essay ratings
I have updated Wikipedia:WikiProject Wikipedia essays/Assessment#WikiProject Essays Assessment Statistics so that it will not be dependent on external tools. It still needs @AntiCompositeNumber's bot to calculate the rating, but once they're in a category, the stats will update automagically.
I think that the cutoffs for the formula need to be reconsidered. Here are the current numbers:
Wikipedia essays by impact | ||||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Top | High | Mid | Low | NA | ??? | Total |
15 | 45 | 90 | 2,322 | 142 | 24 | 2,638 |
0.57% | 1.7% | 3.4% | 88% | 5.4% | 0.9% | 100% |
I don't think that we should be declaring 90% of essays to be "low-impact". The current cutoffs also declare pages like Wikipedia:BOLD, revert, discuss cycle and Wikipedia:Arguments to avoid in deletion discussions to only have "High" impact. Perhaps no more than three-quarters (two-thirds?) of essays should be rated as "Low", and the rest scaled proportionately. I could imagine the top 1% being Top, the next 5% being High, etc. What do you think? WhatamIdoing (talk) 18:23, 3 September 2024 (UTC)
