Essay proposal

Not sure how many people are watching this page, but it seems like a good place to start...

I'm wondering if users might be interested in collaborating on an essay on "what BLP is not." Often I see editors taking cover under BLP for edit-warring, POV-pushing, personal attacks, and all kinds of misbehavior when the material in question does not violate BLP (eg. is very reliably sourced). I think there should be a supplementary essay which clearly explains, possibly with examples, cases in which BLP does and does not apply, since the policy page itself does not appear to be sufficient. –Roscelese (talkcontribs) 19:59, 18 July 2012 (UTC)

Sounds like a good idea. Robby The Penguin (talk) (contribs) 20:01, 18 July 2012 (UTC)

Interesting idea. Go ahead and write it, I'll contribute if I can.--SGCM (talk) 17:30, 8 August 2012 (UTC)

Essay summaries list

There are currently a lot of essays. Essays can be searched via Category:Wikipedia essays and its subcategories, or through navboxes, but the sheer amount of essays makes it difficult to navigate and skim through. My proposal is the creation of lists of essays, sorted by impact and written per topic, that summarizes the gist of each essay. Thus, there's no longer the need to click on each essay one by one. Any objections or suggestions?--SGCM (talk) 17:45, 8 August 2012 (UTC)

As an example, I've constructed Wikipedia:Essays in a nutshell/Deletion as a (very unfinished) draft.--SGCM (talk) 18:59, 8 August 2012 (UTC)
Great! Keep it up ;-) benzband (talk) 19:01, 8 August 2012 (UTC)
Thanks! I've gone ahead and created all the subpages.
I'm nearly finished with Deletion and Civility, but the other subpages still need work. Any and all help is welcomed. :) --SGCM (talk) 12:41, 9 August 2012 (UTC)
