Font size, adjustment and css
[edit]I'm a newby and I don't know much about how WP (or sister projects) manages its content or 'presentation'. I know something about 'readability' and css. I'm familiar with some other content/presentation management systems (notably Wordpress).I completely agree with the Readability Guidelines except the section on editors adjusting font size. I propose that editors include custom css only in exceptional circumstances and that all pages with custom css are automatically flagged for independent review of whether custom css is really necessary. IMHO a better solution would be to propose a larger default font size, based on usability research and current web usability guidelines
There are other usability recommendations that may be applicable to Wiki projects including:
- buttons in the 'content presentation window' that allow users to increase/decrease the font size
- a 'read aloud' button (for the visually impaired) so that the content of any article is machine-read out loud.
I'm interested (among other things) in usability and in my opinion, WP still has a way to go. I'm finding out more about usability improvements projects both at WP and at WM. I'd welcome any tips on what's going on in improving usability! Mikemorrell49 (talk) 11:55, 14 December 2017 (UTC)
