Emre Altug - notability questioned

an admin put a notability template on Emre Altug. Please take a look at it, i haven't the faintest idea why! --Teemeah Gül Bahçesi 22:43, 6 January 2007 (UTC)

Please help me convince User:Pilotguy to take off the notability template! I cited a couple of sources for him but I need TURKS to back me up that Enre IS a well-known person in Turkey! Thanks a lot. --Teemeah Gül Bahçesi 23:11, 6 January 2007 (UTC)

Featured article drive

I took the liberty of adding Suleiman the Magnificent article to the featured article drive list on on the tasks page. User:A. Garnet has been working on it for a while, and with a nice teamwork it shouldn't have too many problems making FA. Cheers! Baristarim 14:19, 13 January 2007 (UTC)

Turkish-Armenian War

Please if you check the Turkish-Armenian War, as the user User:Clevelander asked all these articles for deletion. He claims, they do not deserv to have articles. I guess the Armenian history does not tell much about this part of the history.OttomanReference 04:07, 15 January 2007 (UTC)

These battles do exist. I have questions regarding the credibility of the argument that there is no information. There are many shorter articles on wikipedia? Why we are in such a rush to delete these article?OttomanReference 04:07, 15 January 2007 (UTC)

The articles are not referenced and theres no information online or in books so far. Nareklm 04:15, 15 January 2007 (UTC)
Can you give me another reason, because Battle of Gamelsdorf is much shorter article and no google references. However, I have not seen anyone asking this article for deletion. Is it related you being an Armenian? I would like to support your view, be open minded but it does not look like a good policy, especially coming from a good wikipedian like you. OttomanReference 04:33, 15 January 2007 (UTC)
Well the articles shouldn't be deleted in the first place your right, Plus the nominations were a little to fast since its a suitable article :-) plus my comment was on the refs so it should stay since refs don't really get an article deleted for an article like this. Nareklm 04:51, 15 January 2007 (UTC)

Requested delete's

There were AfD for Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Turko-Persian Tradition and Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Turco-Persian articles, which were concluded as "Speedy Keep". Template:Districts of Turkey has been nominated for deletion. You are invited to comment on the discussion at the template's entry on the Templates for Deletion page. Thank you. --Gene Nygaard 12:12, 21 January 2007 (UTC)

Someone should look at this article nominated for deletion. library records show he exists while others state he doesn't. Some Turk opinion would be fine. Because prejudice against turkish articles has grown significantly recently. --Teemeah Gül Bahçesi 15:15, 28 January 2007 (UTC)

Melih Ozakat

Hello. Could someone from the project check out the article Melih Ozakat? I'm tempted to submit it to AfD since the claims of notability are pretty flimsy but I definitely would need to understand Turkish to convince myself that the article should be deleted. Thanks for your help. Pascal.Tesson 23:06, 5 February 2007 (UTC)

Why are you tempted to delete the article? As far as I know, even though Melih Ozakat is not well known by the young generation of Turkey, he was such a strong figure back in 80's. Let me see if I can find articles on him.. he was on the news recently.

Atatürk - time to move our a**es

Arkadaslar, su maddenin "featured Article" olmasi lazim! Ben simdi tezimi yaziyorum atatürk hakkinda ve Macarca wikipedi'de bu maddeyi gelistirmeye balsadim. Bu kitaptan hicbir Ingiliz editör sikayet etmicek :) I wuld also like to have some volunteers find some more reliable sources for the statements in the article. Images in danger

I've just had to tag a huge lot of photographs uploaded by User:Shuppiluliuma for deletion [1], because they had no license. Shuppiluliuma left upset over such image problems the other day, so he isn't here to clean the mess up. If any of you feel some of these photographs deserve to be saved, I'd much appreciate it if you could help finding correct licensing for them. In the case of photographs downloaded from www.wowturkey.com, you'd have to contact the individual photographers and ask them to release the image under GFDL. I guess many of them might be willing to do that, so it's worth a try. Otherwise, we'll have no choice but to delete the images in a few days. Fut.Perf. 12:25, 14 February 2007 (UTC)

Oh, and could somebody take care of Çerkes Ethem please? Fut.Perf. 12:15, 15 February 2007 (UTC)

Requesting small option to WPTR template

Hi, I would like to request that WPTR support the small option. The template size is rather big, and combining it with several other project templates clutters up the talk page enormously. --Free smyrnan 12:08, 23 February 2007 (UTC)

Help request--images from wowturkey.com

Hi! I wonder if someone from this Wikiproject can help me. An anon editor (IPs: 151.44.159.203 (talk · contribs), 151.44.147.108 (talk · contribs) & 151.37.179.179 (talk · contribs)) has been systematically going through iamges sourced from wowturkey.com and changing the licence. The new licence applied states that permission is required for commercial use. If this new licence is correct all of these images will have to be deleted (per WP:CSD#Images/Media). The anon editor did not reply my questions regarding these changes. Could a Turkish speaker check this claim (supposedly it is verified at http://wowturkey.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=14278, which is in Turkish). Thanks, —JeremyA 03:20, 24 February 2007 (UTC)

Hi, the statement is I believe clear in intent, though a little hazy in the details. The website WOW turkey owns the images. They request that the logo on the photo be kept. And they give permission to everyone to freely use the images. If the logo is removed, they ask that the user contact the photographer (which is possible through their website) and ask for its use, commercial or non-commercial and remind people that the photographer is within his/her rights to ask for renumeration in these cases. --Free smyrnan 12:27, 9 March 2007 (UTC)

Hello,

I have been involved in a gradual rewrite of this article from top to bottom in order to get it to FA status. If more people help then I think FA is not too far away. Cheers, --A.Garnet 20:49, 11 March 2007 (UTC)

Good work. I suggest going through a WP:Bio review and GA review first though. --Free smyrnan 06:04, 12 March 2007 (UTC)
Thanks, still more work to be done before i get it reviewed. I've put some to-do tasks on the talk page. Cheers, --A.Garnet 15:39, 12 March 2007 (UTC)

Series of Istanbul articles and its template

Lets make a template for Istanbul, everything about it. The current article is big, and we can split it and make it into a series of articles related to Istanbul, just like the 'Kurdish history and Culture series' thing. Istanbul deserves it. Can we just do it, or do we need to make requests? deniz 03:05, 18 March 2007 (UTC)

I would discuss it on the articles talk page first Ignore, didnt see your comment on the talk page. --A.Garnet 10:45, 18 March 2007 (UTC)

Congratulations and thanks to Atılım for his efforts in getting it to GA status! Baristarim 19:32, 22 March 2007 (UTC)

Project pages

I tried re-organizing/editing just a bit. There are a few things left to do - tasks need to be cleaned up and organized. Also, we don't really have enough people to start organizing taskforces, but should it be attempted? For example those who undertake to look at new announcements and those who undertake rating? --Free smyrnan 15:38, 23 March 2007 (UTC)

Definitely could be envisaged, let's just wait a bit longer until all the articles are rated (should be done in a week or so). We are still in an expansion stage unfortunately and might be too early to switch to maintenance mode.. As for taskforces, I don't know but we could definitely try it. We just need to find a way to organize it - in the tasks page, using the WPTR template and categories? Baristarim 05:26, 26 March 2007 (UTC)

Adding user boxes to users pages

I am trying to move participants list to being dynamic. Putting the userbox on a user's page automatically puts them in the Category:WikiProject Turkey Wikipedians category, which is simpler than the user adding their name to the participants' list *and* putting the userbox on their userpage. Regards, --Free smyrnan 16:07, 23 March 2007 (UTC)

I've been adding userboxes to those users listed in the participants' list, but not in the category. --Free smyrnan 16:07, 23 March 2007 (UTC)

I'd prefer to have no userboxes on my page, if i remove it will my name be taken off the list? --A.Garnet 16:10, 23 March 2007 (UTC)
Would you be OK with a category? [[Category:WikiProject Turkey Wikipedians]] also puts you in the list, w/o a userbox. --Free smyrnan 16:35, 23 March 2007 (UTC)
Ideally, I dont like to show any kind of affiliation on my userpage. I take it there is no way to have my name on the list without the cat? --A.Garnet 17:35, 23 March 2007 (UTC)
Not that I know of. A sub-page? Or maybe someone has a better idea? This way the list is dynamic - the participants list and the category was vastly out-of-sync. --Free smyrnan 22:00, 23 March 2007 (UTC)

Suleiman the Magnificent added to article improvement drive

You can nominate the article for Wikipedia article improvement drive of the week here. Need 4 votes by March 30th. Perhaps we can place this somewhere prominent on the WP:Turkey, like an announcements section on the front page. Thanks, --A.Garnet 20:42, 23 March 2007 (UTC)

It is currently a GA nominee, for those who might be interested with perusing the article or copyediting etc... Baristarim 22:48, 23 March 2007 (UTC)

Never mind, it passed GA :) Baristarim 05:20, 26 March 2007 (UTC)

Tagging and rating

Thanks to all those who are helping out with placing the {{WPTR}} tag to the talk pages of articles, rating them and/or placing the necessary photo required templates. I know that it takes time and seems not so glorious, but it is one of those "behind-the-scenes" works that needs to be done and is essential for the project in the long run. We have accomplished most of the work already, with a big majority of the articles tagged and rated; once it is done it will be much easier to navigate among the articles and coordinate group work. It is very important to have the WPTR template since it makes it easier to keep track of them for Turkey-related deletions and recent changes bots, so if anyone comes across TR-related articles try to place {{WPTR}} in the talk page even if you don't rate them; some users have AWB, which means that we can run through a bot to rate and keep track of them later on more easily (by the way, project members can think of obtaining AWB: it is a tool that makes navigation very easy among a bulk of articles) Baristarim 23:55, 25 March 2007 (UTC)

By the way, it is also a good idea, if possible, to tag articles with the templates of other WikiProjects like Biography, football, films, architecture etc to seek the involvement of a larger audience simply because this project is overwhelmed by the workload as a result of a shortage of manpower, sadly.. Especially for biographies it is useful since the WPBiography people regularly patrol the articles of living people to make sure that vandals or someone else doesn't add libellous information. Some of those wikiprojects include:

Are we supposed to not have Anatolian civilizations tagged? I tagged Hittites, but it is reverted, now the talk page is archived as well. I think we should include them, but if they are not in the scope of this project, I won't be tagging them. denizTC 01:09, 26 March 2007 (UTC)

Yes, it can be tagged. I am putting it back in. It would be like saying the American Indians are not part of US history... Baristarim 04:05, 26 March 2007 (UTC)

+ Might want to keep an eye here: Turkish nationalism. Article created three weeks ago... Baristarim 04:05, 26 March 2007 (UTC)

+ I know we are trying to coordinate a couple of articles, but if anyone is interested and have the time, they can take a look at Accession of Turkey to the European Union - the article needs to be, simply, rewritten from the get-go.. It is a complicated article and can be a technical one therefore most people shy away from it, but it has been a mess for years... Baristarim 07:25, 26 March 2007 (UTC)

+ There has been a requested move at Talk:Ahmed Djemal to move it to Ahmed Cemal... Baristarim 07:28, 26 March 2007 (UTC)

Turkey-band-stub

I notice that {{Turkey-band-stub}} categorizes under Category:Turkey stubs. I believe it should categorize under Category:Turkish people stubs, or perhaps even its own category under there. I am completely unfamiliar with templates. Can someone please re-categorize it? Regards, --Free smyrnan 14:17, 26 March 2007 (UTC)

Done by Atilim already :) Baristarim 22:39, 27 March 2007 (UTC)

Create an Announcements section

I see a problem we have with WPTR is that we have a large number of participants, but not a very effective way of mobilising them. Perhaps if we create a section on the front page titled Announcements or something we can draw peoples attention to any major efforts underway e.g. X currently FA push, Y requires peer reviw etc. It just so that when peopel come on WPTR they will immediately see something they can contribute to. Comments? --A.Garnet 15:34, 26 March 2007 (UTC)

Strong support. Doğru söze ne denir.MustTC 16:46, 26 March 2007 (UTC)
I started listing and defining maintenance tasks under the Current Tasks tab. The idea is to define these as rigorously as possible to enable automation later, or to organize task forces or to enable new project members to start immediately helping with the project. Feel free to add others. At the moment there are a number of task-related pages/lists scattered all over project pages. Here are some:
  • On the main page, Open tasks section
  • On the side bar, Tasks, which is more of a requested-articles list
  • A new template, {{WPTR/CT}} which is defined on Current Tasks tab, which organizes stuff under Category:WPTR/current
  • On the side bar, listed as TEAMWORK, which lists Article Drives
  • On the side bar, listed Category:Turkey articles needing attention, expert attention, maps needed and photos needed are listed.
  • On the Articles tab, there is a To-be created section, as well as red links under main articles headings, which also seems to double as an articles requested list.

Given the large amount of tasks definitions that float around, let's have a discussion before creating something new and in the meantime, use Current Tasks tab for a centralized point in which tasks are to be defined. --Free smyrnan 09:04, 28 March 2007 (UTC)

infobox province

Let's have another variable for the name without Turkish characters. Otherwise, the government website links won't work. Also, we will have problems adding other things like weather forecast. Another option is just to rename the images to the names without English characters. denizTC 13:06, 28 March 2007 (UTC)

I have another suggestion, lets keep the "name" variable as the one with no Turkish characters, and create a new variable, default it to the "name" variable, and change it only if the city name has Turkish characters. denizTC 14:57, 28 March 2007 (UTC)

Deniz, it is better to have place-articles with original Turkish name. In this position, to change Image names will solve most of the problems. One problem here to sort turkish places in categories. To use {{DEFAULTSORT:XXXXX}} will solve this problem(Many article have this key allready). Please visit Wikipedia:WikiProject Turkey/Current tasks/Maps page for the list of Map images with problematic names.Regards.Must.T C 15:37, 28 March 2007 (UTC)

Mustafa, I am planning to create a new variable, called say "turkname", which will be the name with Turkish characters, and the variable "name" will be the name without Turkish characters. The reason I am doing this is that this way we won't have to manually edit the government website links. Also I am planning to add the weather forecast links soon, and we need the name without Turkish characters there as well. So the images will use "turkname", others will use "name". By default, "turkname" will be equal to "name". We just need to manually add "turkname"s for all the provinces whose name has Turkish characters. What are your opinions? denizTC 21:32, 29 March 2007 (UTC)

sorry Denizz, I was away for some days. Lets discuss a little bit;
  • For me, It is better to use Turkish in Original name of article(whenever possible)
--> change other material names to Turkish(Images etc)
Problems which arise when we use Turkish in articles;
Sorting these articles in categories(Many users dont like to see some articles sorted after "Z" for ex. under "İ".
Sorting is a matter of programming.Lets check/ask for wikiprogramming to use these letters in wiki
Presently a key ; "sortkey" in use in the "Template:Districts of Turkey" (which inserts Pagename to some categories) to sort related article to the categories under Eng. eguvalent/smilar letter( Iğdır; as Igdir etc). This is a solution for categories created by templates, if somebody would insert this article to any other category, problem continue. In this case a global template; DEFAULTSORT:xxxxx can be used bu it is necessary to insert and edit xxxxx;as English name.
Using other materials like web names etc( as in your case)
I like name of your key "turkname".itis better use this instead of "sortkey".
Please check( I will do also), is it possible to create a code(similar to DEFAULTSORT;default name is pagename, If pagename is include Turkish letters then automatically create an artificial pagename replacing turkish characters with similar eng. one)), insert to articles with Turkish letter only one, at the top of the article than all problems willbe solved by using PAGENAME.Lets check.Must.T C 14:45, 31 March 2007 (UTC)

Ottoman task force

I thought I should bring the following input from Kyriakos in the project's attention:

"Hi everyone, a discuss is going on at WPMILHIST about wether or not an Ottoman task force should be created. Interesting FA

Hey guys, check this article out: The Turk. Apparently it is a chess article (obviously related to Turks at some level, on a cultural level though), but the funny thing is it is FA and it will appear on the main page on April 6.. I just ran into it.. Funny, eh? :)) I don't know if we should tag it with the WPTR tag since practically no-one from the project worked on it, but there seem to be way too many cultural connections with Turks that it should be ok. In any case, the room for appreciation is quite large when it comes to WP Banners (check WPFrance, they tagged everything that mentions "France" - for a whopping 27,000 articles!) Hi. I was working on WP:SY and ran into the Mabug article. Mabug, or more commonly referred to as Manbij, is a Syrian city belonging to the Aleppo Governorate. The ancient city is mostly part of Syria, however, the World Heritage Site Hierapolis is part of Turkey. There are thousands of sources to support my claim. The Syrian government identifies Manbij as a city and a mantiqah.[2] All statistics sites indicate that it is a Syrian city.[3][4] Encyclopedia Britannica identifies Manbij or Hierapolis Bambyce as a Syrian city.[5] Furthermore, the user who incorporated text from the 1911 encyclopedia copied everything but the leading line which indicates clearly that it is a Syrian city.[6] I just wanted to gain acceptance by the Turkish Project before proceeding to modifying what needs to be modified. Regards, Anas talk? 16:31, 5 April 2007 (UTC)

I think what is meant by Turkey there is Ottoman Empire, as Ottoman Empire was referred to as Turkey or Turkish Empire then (1911). If the city is in Syria, go ahead and change it. It needs a lot of updates, as probably a lot of things have changed since 1911. I hope it is not part of the Hatay province. denizTC 17:15, 5 April 2007 (UTC)
Maybe, I will make general fixes shortly. Part of the city, the World Heritage Site Hierapolis is part of the Hatay province, but it has its own article, so this shouldn't be a problem. Cheers, Anas talk? 17:53, 5 April 2007 (UTC)
  • I think, there is a misunderstanding here. World heritage site-Hierapolis is in western Turkey. Mabug(Mabij) is Hierapolis Bambyce and in Syria. Related explanations added to relevant articles.Must.T C 20:14, 8 April 2007 (UTC)
Exactly what I was saying. All has been taken care of. —Anas talk? 20:29, 8 April 2007 (UTC)

Bilateral relations discussion

I would like to invite you all to participate in a discussion at this thread regarding bilateral relations between two countries. All articles related to foreign relations between countries are now under the scope of WikiProject Foreign relations, a newly created project. We hope that the discussion will result in a more clean and organized way of explaining such relationships. Thank you. Ed ¿Cómo estás? 18:20, 8 April 2007 (UTC)

Assessment

Thanks a lot to User:Lakers for giving the final push and completing the assessment of all those articles which have been tagged with the WPTR template! Baristarim 20:00, 8 April 2007 (UTC)

He he, I added a few more. Also now I found out that using Turkish names has created problems with Districts of Turkey template as well, we should either remove all "image=name w/out turkish chars" there, or use the quicker solution to define the image variable equal to name variable. Then the image variable will be redundant, we can remove them later. denizTC 00:07, 9 April 2007 (UTC)

Category.

There is a cat Category:Crusade people (Muslims).(My oppinion) Naming seems not correct, quide readers in a wrong way. Please somebody can check it.Must.T C 09:29, 10 April 2007 (UTC)

Should it stay in WP:Turkey? denizTC 10:27, 10 April 2007 (UTC)

I think Byzantine Empire should be in WPTR. denizTC 10:33, 10 April 2007 (UTC)

Two articles

Guys, what should be done with these two articles?

They were created by the same Turkish user - User:3210. The articles seem to be really worked on and long, therefore I think we have a mess on our hands! Baristarim 22:32, 11 April 2007 (UTC)

The article Turkish race seems to be just about race, and a 'turkish' is added in front of most occurrences of the word 'race'. Delete, there is no such thing as a Turkish race. denizTC 22:55, 11 April 2007 (UTC)

Second article should be renamed to "2007 Turkish presidential elections", or something like that. denizTC 22:55, 11 April 2007 (UTC)

The first reads like a dissertation as opposed to an encylopedic article. The second should be renamed as Deniz suggests. --A.Garnet 23:03, 11 April 2007 (UTC)
I agree, the problem is there already is an article at 2007 Turkish presidential elections! I am not sure if he was trying to talk about the history of elections or anything. The creator's English skills are not very good, and he is the creator of Ottoman wiki.. So I don't think it was bad intent finally, but I suspect that the "Turkish Race" article was badly/mistakenly created/pasted from somewhere else - don't know why to be honest.. Baristarim 23:15, 11 April 2007 (UTC)
I opened an AfD for first article;hereMust.T C 23:11, 11 April 2007 (UTC)
Your right Baris, it was pasted from Race! with the word Turkish inserted randomly. I dont know what he was thinking. --A.Garnet 23:19, 11 April 2007 (UTC)
lool Baristarim 23:29, 11 April 2007 (UTC)
Yes, it does get messy in the darker side of Wikipedia. :-) The first article might actually be speedied under A1, as the text is pure nonsense. —Anas talk? 00:03, 12 April 2007 (UTC)

Tagging all districts of Turkey with this template is finished as of 11.04.2007. Many districts are renamed as; "Name (District), Provincename". "What links here" lists of old names of districts are reviewed, but some needs (possibly) some further review. To the attention of community.Must.T C 08:18, 12 April 2007 (UTC)

Suggestion for TfD's

Templates ; "Template:Districts of X-Province" are redundant now. Is it suitable to nominate them for deletion.?( Note; majority of them are under the Category:Turkish regional navigational boxes).Must.T C 12:38, 12 April 2007 (UTC)

Yes, I was thinking of the same thing, they should be deleted since we no longer need them. I will try to list them for deletion soon. Baristarim 13:09, 13 April 2007 (UTC)

suggestion to rename emre aydin

I have talked to emreaydin's management and they wish to see all kinds of references to Emre as emreaydın as they are about to establish it as an artist name or sort of a trademark. Shall we rrname the article? For voting please see Talk:Emre Aydın --Teemeah Gül Bahçesi 12:31, 15 April 2007 (UTC)

Turkish language is Featured Article Candidate

User:Uannis has nominated Turkish language for Feature Article Candidate here, I suggest people help out with any potential objections raised. Thanks, --A.Garnet 19:22, 15 April 2007 (UTC)

Please help us improve this article so that it can get featured article status with (almost) no objections. The tasks are laid out. Please also check Wikipedia:Featured_article_candidates#Turkish_language, and the talk page Talk:Turkish_language. Thanks denizTC 05:46, 26 April 2007 (UTC)

Turkish native speaker wanted

Could someone with knowledge of image licensing explain my comment here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/hasanoglanli/458939297/? This would get us an excellent picture for the article Protect Your Republic Protest.--Steven Fruitsmaak (Reply) 07:12, 16 April 2007 (UTC)

WikiProject user category

It is recommended that Category:WikiProject Turkey Wikipedians be renamed to either Category:WikiProject Turkey participants or Category:WikiProject Turkey members according to convention. It is left up to the project participants/members to choose which they would like. Please hold a discussion here and when there is consensus make the change. Thank you. --NThurston 14:50, 17 April 2007 (UTC)

Either way is fine I think. Let's just flip a coin :) Baristarim 03:18, 18 April 2007 (UTC)

I nominated it as a GA candidate, any help in cleaning it up/expanding it a bit would be appreciated before the reviewer passes by. Cheers! Baristarim 04:56, 19 April 2007 (UTC)

Newly created articles

Some articles had been created by this motivation. List of these articles is in Wikipedia:WikiProject Turkey/Current tasks/ottomanprovinces. (some are redirect, needs to revise). Attention to community.Must.T C 19:39, 19 April 2007 (UTC)

Please keep an eye on this. I am going back to my wikibreak. denizTC 06:10, 22 April 2007 (UTC)

Please take a look at History of Turkish Presidential Elections, it needs to be cleaned up. 3210, please listen to me for once. denizTC 16:50, 25 April 2007 (UTC)

Please help determine whether or not the (Turkish language) references establish notability per the WP:WEB guidelines. Femto 12:10, 30 April 2007 (UTC)

The current form of this article looks like a copyvio from a Turkish website. Could somebody please check it and possibly make a short article. The edit history contains a short stub version in the edit history. Valentinian T / C 11:32, 16 May 2007 (UTC)

Democrat(ic?) Party

I hate to absolutely anal about this, but that is exactly what I'm going to be. The correct name for the parties of Celal Bayar/Adnan Menderes and Mehmet Ağar/Erkan Mumcu is Demokrat Parti, not Demokratik Parti. "Demokratik Parti" refers to a minor offshoot of the Adalet (Justice) party, founded by Ferruh Bozbeyli in 1970. It existed until the 1980 military coup. I'd like to propose that all redirects are adjusted properly, and that a proper description for Demokrat/Demokratik is written. I'm happy to do this, but only if my changes won't be reverted immediately. Mikedaventry 20:51, 28 May 2007 (UTC)

Coşkun Can Aktan

The article on Coşkun Can Aktan is up for deletion. There seem to be a positively enormous number of Google hits on him on the Turkish Google, especially considering he's a professor, so I suspect he might be notable, but I can't tell because I can't read Turkish. Could someone confirm or deny that he passes WP:PROF and, if he passes, improve the article by adding sources and referencing the assertions made? --Charlene 16:28, 4 June 2007 (UTC)

He certainly fails criterion 1, 3, 4, 5 and 6. He sounds like a respected economist, but he's certainly not a household name, and I'm not sure he warrants the article, particularly if there are no links to it. I think this article is self promotion. Mikedaventry 13:58, 7 June 2007 (UTC)
