Golan Heights
Hi guys .. I have got this message :
Hello, I don't know who I should speak to about this important matter. The Golan article has been taking over by Israelis and they have removed everything mentioning an occupation and changed it to "disputed" They have also removed the "the neutrality of this article is disputed" that was on top of the article while it is written in a completely pro-Israeli way. Please do something about this! —Preceding unsigned comment added by SwedishArab (talk • contribs)

Hims collaboration
For those who are unaware, we are currently collaborating to make Hims a Good article. I apologize for not announcing this earlier. We're almost ready to nominate it, but we need to solve a few issues, make a little more expansion in some area, find some sources, etc. See Talk:Hims#To-do list. Thank you for those who have already participated! Salaamat. --Al Ameer son (talk) 05:22, 24 February 2009 (UTC)

Coordinators' working group
Hi! I'd like to draw your attention to the new WikiProject coordinators' working group, an effort to bring both official and unofficial WikiProject coordinators together so that the projects can more easily develop consensus and collaborate. This group has been created after discussion regarding possible changes to the A-Class review system, and that may be one of the first things discussed by interested coordinators.
All designated project coordinators are invited to join this working group. If your project hasn't formally designated any editors as coordinators, but you are someone who regularly deals with coordination tasks in the project, please feel free to join as well. — Delievered by §hepBot (Disable) on behalf of the WikiProject coordinators' working group at 06:41, 28 February 2009 (UTC)
This is a notice to let you know about Article alerts, a fully-automated subscription-based news delivery system designed to notify WikiProjects and Taskforces when articles are entering Articles for deletion, Requests for comment, Peer review and other workflows (full list). The reports are updated on a daily basis, and provide brief summaries of what happened, with relevant links to discussion or results when possible. A certain degree of customization is available; WikiProjects and Taskforces can choose which workflows to include, have individual reports generated for each workflow, have deletion discussion transcluded on the reports, and so on. An example of a customized report can be found here.
If you are already subscribed to Article Alerts, it is now easier to report bugs and request new features. We are also in the process of implementing a "news system", which would let projects know about ongoing discussions on a wikipedia-wide level, and other things of interest. The developers also note that some subscribing WikiProjects and Taskforces use the display=none
parameter, but forget to give a link to their alert page. Your alert page should be located at "Wikipedia:PROJECT-OR-TASKFORCE-HOMEPAGE/Article alerts". Questions and feedback should be left at Wikipedia talk:Article alerts.
Message sent by User:Addbot to all active wiki projects per request, Comments on the message and bot are welcome here.

Aramaic language FAR
I have nominated Aramaic language for a featured article review here. Please join the discussion on whether this article meets featured article criteria. Articles are typically reviewed for two weeks. If substantial concerns are not addressed during the review period, the article will be moved to the Featured Article Removal Candidates list for a further period, where editors may declare "Keep" or "Remove" the article's featured status. The instructions for the review process are here. YellowMonkey (click here to vote for world cycling's #1 model!) 01:23, 23 March 2009 (UTC)

Golan Heights RfC
An RfC has been requested on the Golan Heights Article. The purpose of the RfC is to discuss the proper terminology for referring to the Golan Heights in its article. The question posed is: Should the Golan Heights be referred to as a "disputed" territory or "illegally occupied" territory?
Due to the controversial nature of this article, and because it is part of both WP Israel and WP Syria, I felt it prudent to place notice of the RfC on the respective WP discussion pages. Editors can join the discussion here. --Nsaum75 (talk) 08:04, 15 June 2009 (UTC)
India - Syria relations
I just created this page. Could someone go over and add/edit content?
Also the Foreign Relations Template has some dead links, which i took the liberty of removing, but the foreign relations CATEGORIES has some such pages. One may want to check and match up the two.
Request for comment
An RFC is open at this article which is marked as within the scope of this Wikiproject but the RFC has so far seem very few responses. It would be very helpful to resolving the matter if any interested editors could stop by and offer any thoughts.

Hi, This is to let people know that I have made a request for arbitration concerning a terminology dispute that is currently a hot issue at Talk:Golan Heights but which crops up in lots of other places too. I'm still working out who to add as parties, likely candidates are invited to add themselves as parties now and people with views on the appropriateness of Arbcom involvement at this stade are also invited to comment.--Peter cohen (talk) 21:58, 5 July 2009 (UTC)

Wasfi al-Atassi
Somebody (not me) has stuck a PROD notice on Wasfi al-Atassi.
I know nothing of Syrian history and do not know Arabic so can't even Google for him. -- Hoary (talk) 23:07, 15 August 2009 (UTC)
Proposed deletion of Wasfi al-Atassi article
The above article (about Wasfi Beik al-Atassi (1888 -1933) (Arabic: وصفي الأتاسي) who was a Syrian nationalist, statesman and one of the original writers of the Syrian constitution) has been nominated for deletion by myself.
I could find no non-wiki sources of information online, and no mentions of him in any article apart from the Atassi article, which has one sentence about him, and a sentence in the Hikmat al-Hiraki article.
If anyone here with knowledge of Syrian history has some off-line references which they could add, that would be very useful! The closing date for the PROD is 2009-08-22 21:39>
Thank you -- PhantomSteve (Contact Me, My Contribs) 15:23, 17 August 2009 (UTC)
Can someone check out potential Arabic-language sources for Wasfi al-Atassi?
A Google web search for وصفي الأتاسي returns 8250 hits. A Google news search returns 3 hits. A Google books search returns 4 hits.
Unfortuantely, I can't read Arabic (although if I get a chance, I will try using Google's translate service to check out the news and book hits) - so if an Arabic-reading editor could look at these, I'm sure that there will be some reliable sources amongest them!

RfC on settlements
This Talk:Modi'in Illit#Request for Comment is of relevance ot this project as the principle under dfiscussion would apply to the Golan Heights settlements too. The dispute is whether to include boilerplate text about the legality of settlements in each individual settlement's article.--Peter cohen (talk) 09:52, 19 August 2009 (UTC)

Syria-Ephramite War
I would simply like to point out an error on the Syria-Ephramite War page. In the second paragraph, it states "(Telling of the same battle, 2 Kings 16:5 mentions no casualties and states that Rezin and Pekah failed to defeat Ahaz.)" 2 Kings 16:5 states, "Then Rezin king of Syria and Pekah the son of Remaliah, king of Israel, came up to Jerusalem to make war; and they besieged Ahaz but could not overcome him." In no way does this verse imply that there were no casualties. In the first Syria-Ephramite coalition attack on Judah, they indeed killed many (yes - 120,000 in one day of the battle as 2 Ch 28:6 indicates). However, 2 Kings 16:5 is refering to their assult on JERUSALEM, not Judah as a whole. Although they were able to "defeat" Ahaz (obviously - they killed many, took 200,000 slaves away to Samaria and a great multitude to Damascus), they did not kill him (or as 2Kings 16:5 puts it "overcome him", nor did they wipe out Jerusalem. So to concluded, there are 2 errors in this statement. 1) That 2Kings 16:5 says there were no casulties (it doesn't say that at all!) and 2) That 2Kings16:5 states that Rezin and Pekah failed to defeat Ahaz (it actuallys says "overcome" which is refering to his death). 38.100.176.34 (talk) 02:59, 10 November 2009 (UTC)jacob

Hi.. I need help with the Damascus page.. I made major changes but there's still so much to be done. there are so much opinion-based and lots of nonfactual info on there. There's also so much lack of citation. we should try to bring it to good article status.Ahmadac (talk) 11:55, 23 November 2009 (UTC)
