1990 World Series Challenge or 1990 Hong Kong Challenge?

I'm seeking to avoid an edit war on this article where the title of the page and the name of the tournament in the lead don't currently match. I've set out my case for "1990 World Series Challenge" at Talk:1990 World Series Challenge. I think whatever we call it, the lead and infobox should match the title of the article. I believe that the article's talk page is the right page to discuss this. Regards, BennyOnTheLoose (talk) 15:03, 2 September 2020 (UTC)

They don't have to match; as the article name is based on WP:COMMONNAME whereas the event is based on the official name. However, if there are no reliable sources that call it the Hong Kong Challenge, we should remove. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 15:34, 2 September 2020 (UTC)

Hong Kong Challenge to keep it simple mate. It was the HK Challenge in 1991 so what is the point calling it world series. It was only part of a world series of events in fairness 80.233.24.14 (talk) 16:03, 2 September 2020 (UTC)

Keep it simple because the following year's event was called this? That's really not how an Encylopedia works. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 16:48, 2 September 2020 (UTC)

Lee you should write your own encyclopedia then you make all the decisions yourself... 80.233.81.98 (talk) 17:10, 5 September 2020 (UTC)

User:DooksFoley147. You shouldn't be acting as a sockpuppet. See WP:SOCK: "Sockpuppetry takes various forms: Logging out to make problematic edits as an IP address". You only seem to use you real user account when the article is semi-protected. Nigej (talk) 17:15, 5 September 2020 (UTC)

Nonsense lee and yourself seem to want to run this whatever way you please which is wrong. I have edited here for 10 years and done good work, but just because you two are friendly and I am the outsider does not give you the right to dictate or try to intimidate or bully me ok ?. I have put long hours into this site for nothing. I would prefer if people did not gang up on me 80.233.81.98 (talk) 17:26, 5 September 2020 (UTC)

User:DooksFoley147. However, when you're in a minority of 1, you need to accept that you're view is not the consensus. Nigej (talk) 17:41, 5 September 2020 (UTC)
And this business of flipping between User:DooksFoley147 and various IP addresses. What's that all about? Nigej (talk) 17:44, 5 September 2020 (UTC)
It's textbook socking. It's probably worth an WP:SPI Nigej. I'm a little too involved for any bans here though. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 17:52, 5 September 2020 (UTC)

Career finals

Hi all, I've seen quite a few different edits like: [1] changing the variant finals to cue sports finals. This does seem to be a long standing dispute as to whether Power Snooker is a snooker discipline. What are your thoughts? Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 16:44, 3 September 2020 (UTC)

We discussed this above at #Power snooker and tenball. They are clearly cue sports, but then, all snooker events are cue sports. However, my view is still that they are also variants of snooker and I'd be in favour of treating them as such. Nigej (talk) 17:46, 3 September 2020 (UTC)
Personally, I'd rather have ranking, non-ranking and other finals for any event not part of the WST calendar - which could include amateur events, pool/billiards events and non affiliated events. Would get rid of the issues as to how we describe tournaments. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 18:04, 3 September 2020 (UTC)
I wouldn't be against that, but since I wouldn't be doing the work I'd be reluctant to comment either way. Nigej (talk) 20:35, 3 September 2020 (UTC)

Power Snooker and Tenball are cue sports. They are no closer to Snooker than they are pool. I think these two events should be placed under a "Cue sports finals" section. They have nothing to do with Snooker regarding scoring or rules they even incorporate pool. At least 6 Reds has the same scoring system as Snooker just with less balls that is a different story. 80.233.81.98 (talk) 17:06, 5 September 2020 (UTC)

Championship League

Just a quick heads-up, WST just announced the first half of next years calendar, which has a Championship League in three parts. The issue is disambiguation. I'm sure WST already have ideas how to not confuse the events, but we currently have 2019-20 Championship League, 2020 Championship League, and this new event, for now I'll call Championship League (2020). If it was played over the two years, it'd be fine, but it doesn't look that way. Any ideas how we might fix this if WST don't do it for us? O'Sullivan season articles

Hi all, could we take a look at these articles, such as 2019/2020 Ronnie O'Sullivan snooker season - I'm not sure how notable his individual seasons are above any other player. Even if we retain these articles, most of them are uncited and have a heavy reliance on original research and fancruft to pad them out. Why for example do we have a running total of the season match record? The high break prizes? A running total of century breaks?

Let me know your thoughts, quite happy to help cull the non-compliant bits. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 09:43, 26 September 2020 (UTC)

It's clearly way too much detail, although maybe he justifies a little more detail than other players. However see List of tournament performances by Tiger Woods. 1 line per event plus a very brief season summary. So perhaps a List of tournament performances by Ronnie O'Sullivan could be ok. I had a go myself: see User:Nigej/Ronnie (so far covering just his ranking event results - and out-of-date). I'm thinking now that even this is too much - I certainly wouldn't want something more detailed. I know this idea would involve removing much of the text in 2019/2020 Ronnie O'Sullivan snooker season but I'm thinking that much of that is decidedly dull. "O'Sullivan started his defence of UK Championship with two whitewashes over Ross Bulman and Tian Pengfei. He then beat Noppon Saengkham 6-2 before succumbing to eventual winner Ding Junhui 4-6." tells me nothing I couldn't get from the UK Championship article itself. Archiving of this page

Does anyone understand the archiving of this page? Until March 2019 we had this system: Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Snooker/Archive 8. But now we have seem to have a new naming system for archives eg Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Snooker/Archives/2019/August which are tricky to find. Shouldn't Wikiproject should be WikiProject? Fixed what the bot does in terms of the capitalisation. Might want to move the others to the correct title. No idea if you can get cluebot to do it per number. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 20:57, 29 September 2020 (UTC)
