Guidelines for Importance
[edit]I'm thinking we should add a guideline for assessing importance for skyscrapers, so there can be something to follow when rating. Below is a potential list we can use.
Rank | Guideline | Example |
---|---|---|
Top | Buildings that are over 1,000 feet (305 m) tall that have caused an influence on culture. They can also represent the tallest from a country. They can also represent a building that has a notable first, like first skyscraper, first skyscraper with this revolutionary design, or any other notable record. Lists of tallest buildings in Alpha or Beta world cities are placed here too, see Global city for which cities belong in this cat. | Burj Khalifa |
High | Would usually represent buildings over 800 feet (244 m) and are in the top 20 in a mid-important country (like Chile, Ukraine, Libya) or top 5 in a state. They do not have to reach 800 feet if they provide a somewhat cultural influence. Lists of tallest buildings in Gamma world cities belong here, as well as any other list in a city proper with a 1,000,000+ population. | Aon Center (Los Angeles) |
Mid | Would usually represent buildings between 800 feet (244 m) and 500 feet (152 m). If lower in height, they can be classified as mid only if they have a lesser notable first, or are the tallest in a state or country. Lists of tallest buildings in all cities less than 1,000,000 in city proper belong here. Buildings that apply with the other classes, but fail to show any influence and culture, belong here. | Goldman Sachs Tower |
Low | Buildings that are un-important. | One American Center |
