Lists of store locations

[edit]

Many of the department store articles (e.g. Lord & Taylor or Macy's East) have lists of current and former store locations. They're organized in different ways- some by country/state/city, others by MSA. I've seen comments that the lists clutter the articles and should be deleted, others have said that only the current locations should be listed. So my question to the group is; should the articles contain such lists, and if so in what form?

My personal take on this is that the lists, properly referenced, should stay. They provide useful information about the markets a chain serves or served and are a useful reference for people looking for whether a store's located in a particular area. I think that the format should include both current locations and former locations and that each should be organized by country/state/city and that each listing may have a brief, parenthetical history of that location. --Elipongo (Talk|contribs) 14:49, 19 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I concur. I have started a discussion on Wikipedia:WikiProject Retailing/Listings of former locations concerning this. Tuxide 06:48, 27 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
