AfD input requested
[edit]Anyone's input on Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Comparison of ABAP and Java would be much appreciated. --Cybercobra (talk) 17:15, 18 August 2009 (UTC)
Just found a lost sheep...
[edit]I just stumbled upon this: Wikipedia:WikiProject Ruby. Looks like a one-man action that (for whatever reason) didn't work out. Should it be merged with the main Ruby article, deleted, or extended into a proper wikiproject? --DanielPharos (talk) 15:52, 26 August 2009 (UTC)
Java WikiProject
[edit]I don't want to put a mumbo jumbo into the bongo, I don't want to do too much glitz in the blitz, damzels and sirs, but I wonder if it would be a good thing to create (like now or yesterday) a Java WikiProject along the classy Programming languages WikiProject (like there is for C++) under the Computing and Computer science WikiProjects. If I'm cor-rec-to, there are about 900 articles or more on Java technology in Wikipedia, which may be more than ALL other programming languages articles combined... Proof is in the pudding my good friends so let's join the bandwagon of free coffee from the east... Please go to this sexy page --Alainr345 (talk) 07:14, 24 September 2009 (UTC)
No project templates?
[edit]I came here looking for a WikiProject template to put on Talk:SETL, which I'd just amended and noticed it hadn't a WP attached; but I don't see a template anywhere; {{WikiProject Programming languages}} doesn't come to Wikipedia:WikiProject Programming languages....you guys only just starting up??Skookum1 (talk) 03:35, 5 October 2009 (UTC)
- Realistically, we're more like a task force of the CS WikiProject in practice. --Cybercobra (talk) 03:50, 5 October 2009 (UTC)
Request for comments: cleaning up Timeline of programming languages

Proposed changes
[edit]Does anybody object to:
- adding proper templates (like {{WikiProject:Programming Languages}}) to the project
- cleaning up participants list, moving everybody without any contributions to Wikipedia to separate Inactive Participants section?

- in #2 I've meant "everybody without any contributions to Wikipedia within a year". Ipsign (talk) 17:38, 26 October 2010 (UTC)
Is EOS notable enough?
[edit]I've run into the following programming language named EOS: http://www.cs.iastate.edu/~eos/ . Are there opinions if it is notable enough for inclusion? Some background: it is aspect-oriented extension to C# and is somewhat similar to AspectJ; EOS has been developed from 2003 to 2007, had only one implementation and now is not supported anymore; there are a few articles on it, but not too much (I've found a dozen or so, most are by its authors). Several prog lang article deletion discussions in progress
[edit]There are currently several active deletion discussions regarding programming language articles (apparently all nominated by User:Christopher Monsanto), including:
- Joy (programming language) (AfD)
- Alma-0 (AfD)
- Afnix (programming language) (AfD)
- Einstein (programming language) (AfD)
- Y (programming language) (AfD)
- Zonnon (AfD)
- Cat (programming language) (AfD)
- Nemerle (AfD)
- Alice (programming language) (AfD)
Members of this WikiProject may be particularly qualified/interested in weighing in on these AfDs. --Cybercobra (talk) 00:51, 13 February 2011 (UTC)
Notice: An RFC is being conducted here at Talk:Hard diskdrive#RFC on the use of the IEC prefixes. The debate under consideration is the use in this table of the “Hard disk drive” article of nomenclature such as “KiB”, “MiB”, and “GiB” to describe capacities. The governing guideline on MOSNUM is Quantities of bytes and bits. The quality of the discussion can be improved by broadening participation of the discussion. This will hopefully more fully achieve a consensus. Greg L (talk) 17:56, 10 April 2011 (UTC)
BASIC Family Language Stub Merger
[edit]I noticed that there are quite a few stubs on BASIC-family languages, such as BASIC-11 and BasicX. What does everyone think about merging them into an article along the lines of "BASIC Variations"? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.10.124.205 (talk) 19:05, 8 June 2011 (UTC)
New categories
[edit]I have made two new categories for high level and low level programming language. I need some people to help organize the articles on programming language,s thanks. Ryuku (talk) 20:14, 12 July 2011 (UTC)
- I could see some problems with these categories: 1. How is "low-level languages" defined? 2. You added C to "low-level languages", but C is frequently referred to as a high-level language (despite its low-level nature). --Frederico1234 (talk) 20:26, 12 July 2011 (UTC)
WikiProject restructuring
[edit]Compared to some other WikiProjects, the WikiProjects related to computing in a broad sense have been split into a large number of small projects:
I believe this fragmentation of the community is not productive. In essence a WikiProject is just a shared talk page where people with similar interests can meet each other. This project is fairly small and inactive. Would anyone object to it being merged into Wikipedia:WikiProject Computer science? —Ruud 10:34, 22 September 2011 (UTC)
