Hi, I'm sorry if I'm doing this wrong as I'm not a Wiki scholar, just a doctoral student specializing in William Blake. I need to let someone know that on the page for Jerusalem, the "chapter summaries" are just wrong. The chapters only have numbers, they don't have these subtitles that are given here. As even a cursory glimpse at the extant copy shows (or even Erdman's edition), these are separate smaller sections. "To the Jews" and "To the Deists" are lyric poems dropped in to end chapters; "To the public" is simply a prologue/preliminary statement, and "To the Christians" ends chapter 3. They're NOT the names of the chapters; the chapters have no names. Finally, not all of Blake's mythological poems are listed [[1]] (e.g. Jerusalem and Milton) (the listing at the bottom of the page). Again I'm sorry for my ignorance and lack of ability to make changes myself with confidence—I don't even know how to get a username w/Wiki. So please delete this as needed, but I beg anyone from the workgroup or who has an interest in Blake to correct these completely erroneous "chapter titles."75.148.218.210 (talk) 00:57, 25 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, thanks for the message. Of course you are right that as printed they are not, as it were, titles to chapters, but they certainly have been described as "chapter headings" by Blake scholars (e.g. [2] [3]) The summary is not intended to be a facsimile. It's supposed to clarify the content and structure, so I don't see any "error" as such here. Calling it "completely erroneous" is rather unhelpful, I think. The best approach, I suggest, is to expand the content to explain the matter in more detail - for example that there is an address to a group followed by a lyric, followed by the substantive chapter. Regarding your point that Jerusalem and Milton are not listed at the end of the William Blake's mythology page, that's because they are already mentioned earlier in the text, in the section entitled "The Fall of Albion". It's perfectly fine to argue that the list should be inclusive, so they should be added there too, but they are not omitted. Again, the best approach, I think, to improve the page, would be to add to the substantive content about the mythology itself.
Anyway, thanks for your thoughts. I hopee you can help to improve Blake coverage. To create an account, go to "log in" at the top right-hand corner of the page and follow the instructions. Paul B (talk) 15:29, 25 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Feedback and some more work on Visionary Heads

[edit]

Hey All, we just achieved one of our first DYK's with Visionary Heads; however, the article isn't entirely in Wikipedia style per the MOS, so Dmitrismirnov and myself would appreciate more help Wikifying and expanding the article (it might be worth pushing it towards GA)! Monument near Blake's unmarked grave at Bunhill Fields in London

It would be interesting to know whether people involved in this project will be visiting London? It might be an idea to organise a get together and perhaps take the opportunity to visit one or two places, e.g.: Bunhill Fields, Goose Green, and other sites of interest? Leutha (talk) 16:57, 3 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

At the very least, I plan on attending (hopefully with a scholarship, else it will be very expensive). I would like to present on the my experience doing a internship as a grad student w/ a purely digital project, Sadads (talk) 17:23, 3 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

By the way, the Goose Green mural has been restored. With all the hoohah about it being painted over and restored, I think it may well be notable (comments?) If we get consensus on this, the artist Stan Peskett, might grant permission for a CC licensed photo for commons?Leutha (talk) 09:00, 4 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Improving the The_Lamb before the Christmas Picture of the Day

[edit]

Hey all, according to Talk:The_Lamb, the articles is going to be linked through the Picture of the Day on December 25. There should be a real push to improve the article before than. I will spend some time this weekend. Anyone want to help? Sadads (talk) 18:42, 3 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Blake’s Cottage

[edit]

I suspect this project may be inactive but, if not, involved editors may wish to expand this new page, Blake’s Cottage. All the best. KJP1 (talk) 21:39, 4 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
