Assessment
[edit]Ok, in order to get a discussion going on assessment, and since we're starting from the ground up, here are some ideas regarding assigning importance values (please comment!) to get the ball rolling and to establish parameters by which other pages are assessed. This list should grow as I and others add to it -- Oaxaca dan 14:40, 16 February 2007 (UTC)
- Counties: - most of them as "Mid" with some as high?
- Cities - large regional ones (e.g., Albany, Syracuse, Buff) as "High" with most as "Mid" (e.g., Kingston, Watertown, etc.)
- Buildings - I don't even know how to begin assessing the importance of buildings - any architects around here? architectural historians?
I need some assistance over at the Righteous Babe Records article. I've begun a clean up and sourcing of the article in earnest, but could use some help on formatting, any templates, and really getting this article up to par with some of the other New York Company articles. Thank you. AtaruMoroboshi (talk) 18:39, 18 April 2008 (UTC)
New Assessment guidelines
[edit]After discussion at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject New York#Bump up Teddy Roosevelt to top status?, I've revised the guidelines for the assessment scale. Any objections or suggestions should be directed to the main WikiProject New York talk page, since it'll be watched more closely than this page is. Powers T 03:08, 3 November 2009 (UTC)
Thanks for the detailed Importance rating criteria
[edit]I've been involved in creating Dinsmore golf course and I wanted to say thanks for the detailed importance rating criteria as it made it really easy to get it right :). -- Eraserhead1 <talk> 10:17, 5 March 2010 (UTC)
- Well, maybe I didn't make it as clear as we both thought. I would have rated that article as "Low-importance", myself. Powers T 14:44, 6 March 2010 (UTC)
- I thought it was included in "All other geographic articles" so therefore should be Mid. But thinking about it it probably should be low. -- Eraserhead1 <talk> 14:52, 6 March 2010 (UTC)
- Hm, yeah; I can see how you could get that. I guess I didn't consider a golf course to be describing an aspect of New York's geography. =) I mean, would you put it in a "Geography of New York" category? Powers T 20:26, 6 March 2010 (UTC)
- I think the main issue here is that the criteria for Low aren't as detailed as the criteria for the other Importance levels, so its easy to get confused at that point. -- Eraserhead1 <talk> 20:35, 6 March 2010 (UTC)
- Well "Low" is a bit of an "everything else" category, although sometimes I do wish we had a "virtually totally unimportant to this project" category for (among other things) people who were born in New York but never did anything particularly notable for the state. Powers T 20:53, 6 March 2010 (UTC)
- I've added "and organisations" to the Low Class criteria and added the article we were discussing as an example. Remove it if you don't think its appropriate but hopefully that should make it better. -- Eraserhead1 <talk> 21:28, 6 March 2010 (UTC)
