2008, the new era
OK, 2008 is turning out to be a great year for MJ here at wikipedia. The Thriller album, Thriller 25 album and Janet Jackson have all been promoted to GA. Additionally the quality of the MJ article has improved so much it nearly, but not quite, passed FA. We have a few things that need doing over the next few months.
- Get MJ to FA
- DONE — Realist2 (Speak) 23:52, 5 August 2008 (UTC)
- Get Thriller album to FA
- Get the Jackson 5 to GA
- Get Janet to FA
The Jackson 5 article is a priorty right now, it used to be featured and now is no longer even GA. We have to work on this one. Realist2 ('Come Speak To Me') 18:43, 26 April 2008 (UTC)
Singles
- Most (if not all) of the Michael Jackson singles' articles on here have the same issues: trivia sections, weasel words, and little or no references. Can't we do something about this? Anthony Rupert (talk) 05:21, 9 June 2008 (UTC)
- I have to agree, his singles are in a particularly bad shape, most people at the project pend their time in other areas, you should join the group and try to rally others to help. Unfortunately ive got so many other MJ and JJ articles to work on that I dont have the time. --— Realist2 (Come Speak To Me) 16:22, 9 June 2008 (UTC)
- I have a problem with the way his singles' articles look too but I wonder who can make them look really good. The "Billie Jean" one indeed is one of the ones I would want definitely to be revised, lol.
- Yes, but I think the albums are the priority, dont you? I do agree the the singles from the legendary Dangerous album are in poor shape. --— Realist2 (Come Speak To Me) 16:07, 10 June 2008 (UTC)
- Speaking of singles, I have done a complete Do-Over of This Time Around (Michael Jackson song). I don't really have much info, but I did add the track listings of the promos, the cover of one of them, and the official remixes. if there is any additional info U would like 2 add. feel free 2 do so. —Preceding unsigned comment added by MaJic (talk • contribs) 00:50, 11 June 2008 (UTC)
- Cheers, I added a project tag to the talk page. — Realist2 (Come Speak To Me) 00:55, 11 June 2008 (UTC)
UWC
Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/United World Chart - Incase you use this as a source in any of your articles, dont, it will only have to be removed at GA/FA. The source should no longer be used in any Michael Jackson article. I would actively remove it from any article you see providing this link, cheers. — Realist2 (Come Speak To Me) 18:42, 12 June 2008 (UTC)
I would like to remind the group of a new article, if you can find any further reliable sources on this please do. — Realist2 (Come Speak To Me) 22:33, 20 June 2008 (UTC)
Changes to the WP:1.0 assessment scheme
As you may have heard, we at the Wikipedia 1.0 Editorial Team recently made some changes to the assessment scale, including the addition of a new level. The new description is available at WP:ASSESS.
- The new C-Class represents articles that are beyond the basic Start-Class, but which need additional references or cleanup to meet the standards for B-Class.
- The criteria for B-Class have been tightened up with the addition of a rubric, and are now more in line with the stricter standards already used at some projects.
- A-Class article reviews will now need more than one person, as described here.
Each WikiProject should already have a new C-Class category at Category:C-Class_articles. If your project elects not to use the new level, you can simply delete your WikiProject's C-Class category and clarify any amendments on your project's assessment/discussion pages. The bot is already finding and listing C-Class articles.
Please leave a message with us if you have any queries regarding the introduction of the revised scheme. This scheme should allow the team to start producing offline selections for your project and the wider community within the next year. Thanks for using the Wikipedia 1.0 scheme! Tagging Jackson 5 articles into the MJ project? (RESOLVED)
Hi guys, I think we should project tag Jackson 5 related articles into the MJ wikiproject. Even if they are a "low" priority, they still affected MJ as a musician. They also don't receive much maintenance so bringing them all into the project would help them. The Jackson 5 article is part of the MJ wikiproject so logically other J5 articles should as well. Template:The Jackson 5 provides a list of most of the articles relating to the Jackson5/Jackson's. We could even change the official title of the project? Thoughts? — Realist2 17:27, 14 August 2008 (UTC)

Oppose Name change but support Jackson 5 material
- Include it, as long as it's relevant to the Wikiproject's subject. Additionally I think MJ is too dominate a figure in music and pop culture for the name to be replaced to a general over view of the Jackson family or Jackson 5. I'd prefer a seperate J5 wikiproject. Wikipedia 0.7 articles have been selected for Michael Jackson
Wikipedia 0.7 is a collection of English Wikipedia articles due to be released on DVD, and available for free download, later this year. The Wikipedia:Version 1.0 Editorial Team has made an automated selection of articles for Version 0.7.
We would like to ask you to review the articles selected from this project. These were chosen from the articles with this project's talk page tag, based on the rated importance and quality. If there are any specific articles that should be removed, please let us know at Wikipedia talk:Version 0.7. You can also nominate additional articles for release, following the procedure at Wikipedia:Release Version Nominations.
A list of selected articles with cleanup tags, sorted by project, is available. The list is automatically updated each hour when it is loaded. Please try to fix any urgent problems in the selected articles. A team of copyeditors has agreed to help with copyediting requests, although you should try to fix simple issues on your own if possible.
We would also appreciate your help in identifying the version of each article that you think we should use, to help avoid vandalism or POV issues. These versions can be recorded at this project's subpage of User:SelectionBot/0.7. We are planning to release the selection for the holiday season, so we ask you to select the revisions before October 20. At that time, we will use an automatic process to identify which version of each article to release, if no version has been manually selected. Thanks! - Well, a new album is certainly being worked on. There are numerous artists who claim they have been working with Jackson, they have no reason to lie. The question is, will this work ever be released as an album? That we do not yet know. — Realist2 20:17, 31 October 2008 (UTC)

Coordinators' working group
Hi! I'd like to draw your attention to the new WikiProject coordinators' working group, an effort to bring both official and unofficial WikiProject coordinators together so that the projects can more easily develop consensus and collaborate. This group has been created after discussion regarding possible changes to the A-Class review system, and that may be one of the first things discussed by interested coordinators.
All designated project coordinators are invited to join this working group. If your project hasn't formally designated any editors as coordinators, but you are someone who regularly deals with coordination tasks in the project, please feel free to join as well. — Delievered by §hepBot (Disable) on behalf of the WikiProject coordinators' working group at 05:59, 28 February 2009 (UTC)

This is a notice to let you know about Article alerts, a fully-automated subscription-based news delivery system designed to notify WikiProjects and Taskforces when articles are entering Articles for deletion, Requests for comment, Peer review and other workflows (full list). The reports are updated on a daily basis, and provide brief summaries of what happened, with relevant links to discussion or results when possible. A certain degree of customization is available; WikiProjects and Taskforces can choose which workflows to include, have individual reports generated for each workflow, have deletion discussion transcluded on the reports, and so on. An example of a customized report can be found here.
If you are already subscribed to Article Alerts, it is now easier to report bugs and request new features. We are also in the process of implementing a "news system", which would let projects know about ongoing discussions on a wikipedia-wide level, and other things of interest. The developers also note that some subscribing WikiProjects and Taskforces use the display=none
parameter, but forget to give a link to their alert page. Your alert page should be located at "Wikipedia:PROJECT-OR-TASKFORCE-HOMEPAGE/Article alerts". Questions and feedback should be left at Wikipedia talk:Article alerts.

I'm new here and don't really know what I'm doing but want to help you get accurate information on the Jackson pages, particularly his charity. Heal the world foundation.
I'd like to get the HTWF logo from the www.healtheworldfoundation.org website, put on the heal the world foundation page. I would also like to have one of you fix any errors that I made to the page by putting the references on there for me. I'm not sure how to do that, but all the data I changed on the page came from the HTWF website and is accurate. how can we get the logo for his charity and the heal the world song on his charity site as well? any suggestions to me? Michael Jackson articles for GA/FA
I think we should make a real effort to get all of the article related to Michael Jackson to at least GA, and preferably to FA, in the near future. I will make a start on one of the article. Post a comment here or on the WP:WikiProject Michael Jackson page if you are willing to help. Look through the current articles and take as many as possible to Peer Review in their current state. We will then have some concrete issues to address. Thanks. 03md 07:58, 26 June 2009 (UTC)
- Strong suggestion (with my "never had a FAC fail" hat on, not my "WP:MJJ's pet admin" hat) – wait at least a week before nominating any article for any kind of review process. At the moment everything is either extremely unstable, or liable to change, as well as under scrutiny from a lot more people than usual, some of whom will be looking for any reason to oppose and many more of whom will want to help, but won't understand Wikipedia's rules and regulations. For the most unfortunate of reasons, more people are visiting this project than ever before, and a lot of them won't understand just how WP:NPOV and WP:RS work, and may get angry and frustrated at what they see as having their material "failed". The two people this project currently have who do have significant experience of writing and copyediting at FAC level – Realist2 and myself – are unlikely to be in a position to shepherd things through Wikipedia processes for a while. – iridescent 21:01, 27 June 2009 (UTC)

Hello, one of my goals is to take the Stark Raving Dad article to FAC and I was wondering if any project members would be able to help. Did Jackson (or even his family?) ever comment on the episode, perhaps in an interview or book? Other things: Is the episode mentioned in any biography about Jackson? Is there any source that mentions why Jackson used a pseudonym (one of the Simpsons producers stated that he wanted to play a joke on his family, but I've also read that there was some contractual reason)? I realize that members of this project are likely very busy right now, but if anyone could help me out, it would be appreciated. Thanks, Scorpion0422 22:16, 7 July 2009 (UTC)
- I will try and help, when everything has calmed down. — Please comment R2 13:28, 8 July 2009 (UTC)
Howdy y'all real excited to be working on the project. My major goal over the next few weeks is to rework the Jackson 5 article and hopefully return it to its former status as a featured article. As it stands its a very nicely written article. However, the main reason its was demoted is that the article is mostly devoid of citations, and unfortunately some of my preliminary research is giving me information that varries that written in the article, which makes me think portions could be untrue and need to be rewritten. It seems like the main place to start is with research, and seeing as there is a lack of online sources for much of this information il likely be hitting the books pretty soon. This looks like it might be a pretty big undertaking, and I would greatly appreciate assistance, especially in citing information. I know with the recent death there might not be time immediately, but I think this article is in the long term, of paramount importance to the project. Solid State Survivor (talk) 04:45, 8 July 2009 (UTC)
- I do agree, I've always promised myself to get it up to at least a GA. I have a few books that will be useful, again, we need to wait until things have calmed down, put that's just my opinion. — Please comment R2 13:29, 8 July 2009 (UTC)
- I agree with you there - its a little ambitious at this point in time. Honestly I feel like any trying to improve anything at the moment is futulie, as there is so much damage control to be done. The most important thing right now is to see the articles "through the storm" while trying maintaning their initial quality. Alot of people have strong opinions on this man and feel the need to present them here as fact. Considering the number of hits were getting (I think yesterday alone we had over one million) im pleasently suprised its not worse. Solid State Survivor (talk) 23:42, 8 July 2009 (UTC)
Jackson's children
Could a few more people watchlist the names of Jackson's children, to ensure no more articles about them slip in? They're clearly not notable in their own right, and so, for now, the names should redirect to the article on their father or a related article. Obviously, if and when they do something to become notable, they may have their own article, but as they're only kids, I suspect we'll have to wait for a couple of years at least. Thanks. J Milburn (talk) 11:56, 8 July 2009 (UTC)

If creation of any of these pages becomes incessant consider protecting against creation. Solid State Survivor (talk) 12:33, 8 July 2009 (UTC)
- Agree, they are not notable at all yet, but it wouldn't surprise me if they do become notable in few years time, charity work or something. — Please comment R2 13:28, 8 July 2009 (UTC)
- Children of Michael Jackson has presented itself as a concern. I feel that I am inadequate in rationalizing the deletion of the page as I am new and only now familiarizing myself with protocal. If someone could help me with this I would appreciate it. Solid State Survivor (talk) 06:55, 9 July 2009 (UTC)
Certification of Vital Record
I have the certification of Vital Record´s Michael Jackson (death) in pdf image, and i would like to know, if i upload it here, what kind of Non-free use rationale and license would be necessary to use.
Thanks and best regards. Lightwarrior2 (talk) 21:37, 10 July 2009 (UTC)
- I'm willing to be persuaded otherwise, but I can see no possible situation in which there could be a valid NFCC rationale for it. We have reliable sources for his date of birth and date of death, and there's no artistic or literary significance to the document as a document. – iridescent 21:40, 10 July 2009 (UTC)
Changes to popular pages lists
There are a few important changes to the popular pages system. A quick summary:
- The "importance" ranking (for projects that use it) will be included in the lists along with assessment.
- The default list size has been lowered to 500 entries (from 1000)
- I've set up a project on the Toolserver for the popular pages - tools:~alexz/pop/.
- This includes a page to view the results for projects, including the in-progress results from the current month. Currently this can only show the results from a single project in one month. Features to see multiple projects or multiple months may be added later.
- This includes a new interface for making requests to add a new project to the list.
- There is also a form to request a change to the configuration for a project. Currently the configurable options are the size of the on-wiki list and the project subpage used for the list.
- The on-wiki list should be generated and posted in a more timely and consistent manner than before.
- The data is now retained indefinitely.
- The script used to generate the pages has changed. The output should be the same. Please report any apparent inconsistencies (see below).
- Bugs and feature requests should be reported using the Toolserver's bug tracker for "alexz's tools" - [1]

Elvis Presley similarities
I've noticed that are quite a few similarities between Michael Jackson, other than they were almost as big in popularity as each other. For example they both died of a drug overdose and Elvis almost possibnly became MJ's father-in-law through this daughter. There are other similarities out there. I hope this discussion isn't forumy. Do people think this is worth a mention? Simply south (talk) 22:13, 18 July 2009 (UTC)
- There are certainly a few publications documenting some similarities. I think it would definitely warrant a mention in the reaction section of the death article—just a paragraph stating that similarities were drawn by news organisations. Pyrrhus16 11:48, 26 July 2009 (UTC)
- Also, they both had homes whose name contained the word "land", they both had hit songs titled "Heartbreak Hotel", they both went to the White House to meet a California-born Republican president, and they both appeared in a movie with Gene LeBell. --Metropolitan90 (talk) 08:29, 1 September 2009 (UTC)

The article This Place Hotel says that the song title was changed from "Heartbreak Hotel" to avoid confusion with the Elvis Presley song of the same title. However, it's not clear when the title was changed. The song is listed in The Billboard Book of Top 40 Hits under the title "Heartbreak Hotel" only, with no mention of any name change. So, apparently, it was still called by its original title when it was released as a single. If indeed the title was changed for later releases, we might want to keep the article under the title This Place Hotel to avoid having to use a qualifier like Heartbreak Hotel (Jacksons song), but the article needs to be clarified. --Metropolitan90 (talk) 08:16, 1 September 2009 (UTC)

Locking current articles until hype as gone away
So there are at least three articles that have been suffering daily repeated vandalism for almost 2 weeks. This Is It (Michael Jackson song), This Is It (Michael Jackson album) and Invincible (Michael Jackson album) all have either factually wrong content being added, or else mindless removal or data, so that what's left doesn't even make sense. The ony way around this seems to be complete protection of these articles until the general public loses interest. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.141.22.48 (talk) 21:22, 22 October 2009 (UTC)

- 'MJfan9 (talk) 16:46, 17 December 2009 (UTC)
It's been going on for months, and seems to have gotten worse this week with Invincible getting into the end of decade discussions. Every MJ album article opens with "the 7th album" or whatever, except for that one... And for some reason, it seems to be fashionable to eradicate systematically every mention of his death... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.141.135.212 (talk) 19:10, 28 December 2009 (UTC)

The new layout can't include all certifications, the old layout yes, but i understand the split of cubfan because with the old layout, the table began very big for every album. For this reason i suggested a split in two pages, one for the peak chart positions and one for the certifications and sales (with the old layout without chart positions that's only layout that can include all certifications and sales) with main page that presents the two pages and the redirects. WP 1.0 bot announcement
This message is being sent to each WikiProject that participates in the WP 1.0 assessment system. On Saturday, January 23, 2010, the WP 1.0 bot will be upgraded. Your project does not need to take any action, but the appearance of your project's summary table will change. The upgrade will make many new, optional features available to all WikiProjects. Additional information is available at the WP 1.0 project homepage. — Carl (CBM · talk) 03:36, 22 January 2010 (UTC)
Request for comment on Biographies of living people
Hello Wikiproject! Currently there is a discussion which will decide whether wikipedia will delete 49,000 articles about a living person without references, here:
Wikipedia:Requests for comment/Biographies of living people
Since biographies of living people covers so many topics, many wikiproject topics will be effected.
The two opposing positions which have the most support is:
- supports the deletion of unreferenced articles about a living person, User:Jehochman
- opposes the deletion of unreferenced articles about a living person, except in limited circumstances, User:Collect
Comments are welcome. Keep in mind that by default, editor's comments are hidden. Simply press edit next to the section to add your comment.
Please keep in mind that at this point, it seems that editors support deleting unreferenced BLP articles if they are not sourced, so your project may want to source these articles as soon as possible. See the next, message, which may help.

In the section "This Is It (Michael Jackson Concert)" the film tie-in is mentioned, but the box office takes are omitted. If other sales figures are considered notable, this figure should be considered equally notable and allowed to be added.
For reference see http://boxofficemojo.com/movies/?id=michaeljacksonthisisit.htm.
Domestic (US) Take: $72,091,016 International Take: $180,341,232
Time in Release - 37 days
Also notable - simultaneously the highest grossing documentary and highest grossing concert film of all time. number one at the box office it's opening weekend - 5th highest Halloween opening ever. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Clokverkorange (talk • contribs) 14:22, 7 January 2010 (UTC)
Can any project members review current GA noms.
Hi, I'm not a member of WikiProject Michael Jackson, but I've been trying to bring some articles to GA status, but since the review list is filled with nominees, I was wondering if anyone from this Wikiproject could GA review the nominees.
Here are the articles I feel confident are GA material and are current nominees:
- Thriller (song)
- This Is It (Michael Jackson song) (I think this article might even be FA worthy)
- This Is It (Michael Jackson album)
- Do the Bartman
- Speed Demon (Song)
Sorry if I'm bothering any of you with this question/request but I would really like to see these articles become GA's. Thanks, Crystal Clear x3 [talk] 07:55, 26 January 2010 (UTC)

I don't understand why this game keeps getting removed from the template and I don't see how this game does not fall under the category of this project. Jackson did have some involvement with the game's development as he provided the motion capture and was digitally photographed for the game. Sarujo (talk) 00:58, 13 February 2010 (UTC)
Since it been a year with no discussion, that usually means that everybody has no objects with my rationale. So I will re-add the work project template. If there is any disagreement, then it needs to be discussed, rather than what appears to be sweeping deputes under the rug and pretending they're not there. Sarujo (talk) 00:37, 24 June 2011 (UTC)

Michael Jackson articles at WP:GAN
Hi, there are a number of articles which have been nominated at WP:GAN by User:Crystal Clear x3
Don't Stop 'til You Get Enough, Another Day (Michael Jackson song), Speed Demon (song), HIStory: Past, Present and Future, Book I, Leave Me Alone, Dangerous (Michael Jackson song), Remember the Time, Invincible (Michael Jackson album), Michael Jackson: The Stripped Mixes, Wanna Be Startin' Somethin', The Way You Make Me Feel, Is It Scary, Dirty Diana, Death of Michael Jackson, Bad (Michael Jackson song), You Rock My World, Ben (album), The Only Exception
I reviewed and passed Tabloid Junkie yesterday, but only after I undertook a fairly comprehensive copy-edit. Articles should be in good shape before they are nominated. Might I politely suggest that this project could help get the remainder of the nominations into good shape. –– Jezhotwells (talk) 10:54, 4 April 2010 (UTC)

Hello all...i have removed the option to edit the boxs in the portal...as ever time I look some kid has messed it up.....So for us here we can still edit it at will-- pages all here -->"Portal:Michael Jackson pages" on Wikipedia Ps i did this to the Jackson family portal too Jackson family portal pages here!!....I will set the portal up soon to let people add things ... It will function like this portal --->Portal:Music of Canada so three will be an Suggest and Archive option!!! Moxy (talk) 18:04, 1 May 2010 (UTC)
Childhood
Shouldn't "Childhood (song)" have its own article? Why is it relegated only as a part of a two-sided single with "Scream", as if being a part of this single is all that makes it notable? Is the song not notable in its own right? Don't lesser Michael Jackson songs have their own article? It can be discussed at Talk:Scream/Childhood#Split the songs. --Starcheerspeaksnewslostwars (talk) 08:30, 29 July 2010 (UTC)
Michael Jackson articles have been selected for the Wikipedia 0.8 release
Version 0.8 is a collection of Wikipedia articles selected by the Wikipedia 1.0 team for offline release on USB key, DVD and mobile phone. Articles were selected based on their assessed importance and quality, then article versions (revisionIDs) were chosen for trustworthiness (freedom from vandalism) using an adaptation of the WikiTrust algorithm.
We would like to ask you to review the Michael Jackson articles and revisionIDs we have chosen. Selected articles are marked with a diamond symbol (♦) to the right of each article, and this symbol links to the selected version of each article. If you believe we have included or excluded articles inappropriately, please contact us at Wikipedia talk:Version 0.8 with the details. You may wish to look at your WikiProject's articles with cleanup tags and try to improve any that need work; if you do, please give us the new revisionID at Wikipedia talk:Version 0.8. We would like to complete this consultation period by midnight UTC on Monday, October 11th.
We have greatly streamlined the process since the Version 0.7 release, so we aim to have the collection ready for distribution by the end of October, 2010. As a result, we are planning to distribute the collection much more widely, while continuing to work with groups such as One Laptop per Child and Wikipedia for Schools to extend the reach of Wikipedia worldwide. Please help us, with your WikiProject's feedback!

Nomination of List of unreleased Michael Jackson material for featured list removal
I have nominated List of unreleased Michael Jackson material for featured list removal here. Please join the discussion on whether this article meets the featured list criteria. We have an editor that is editing most of the MJ articles - All done in good faith but not within our polocies. Pls watch over all the articles for "Tabloid" type addition like what was removed here. We need adults to watch over theses types of edits.Moxy (talk) 16:13, 3 October 2012 (UTC)
Comments needed at Michael Jackson's health and appearance article
Note: transposed here by Moxy (talk) 17:43, 3 November 2012 (UTC) Are any of you willing to weigh in on the Talk:Michael Jackson's health and appearance#Removal of material based on objection to speculation and offensiveness and/or gruesome details discussion?
Also, regarding this article (Michael Jackson), this citation-needed tag should be reverted; this information is already referenced lower in the article, and, per WP:LEAD, what is already referenced lower in the article does not have to be referenced in the lead of the article. 2001:DA8:201:1067:250:56FF:FEB5:826A (talk) 17:22, 3 November 2012 (UTC)

Speed Demon (song), an article that your project may be interested in, has been nominated for an individual good article reassessment. If you are interested in the discussion, please participate by adding your comments to the reassessment page. I Created Some (messy/incomplete/visually incorrect) Graphics
Well... as some, such as reybruno know, I contributed [[[File:Namexhh01.png]]] and [[[File:PhotoThriler47.png]]] a while back.
I have now just created two new images. Unfortunately regarding detail; they are inaccurate right now as I had no photos of MJ whilst I was creating them, and I haven't quite neatened them up yet ether.
I will update these to SVG vector images of a far higher quality when I have some spare time, maybe even color, Though feel free to use them at will right now.
File:MJ We Are The World Illustration.png(Image 2 removed due to SVG version)
Please don't be rude.: '(, they are incomplete right now.

Okay here is a simple vector version, still incomplete but I may not get around to furthering completion of these as demand seems low, again I didn't use any photos for reference, I enjoy challenging myself, so it will not be precise. Simon How can I help? 12:21, 23 June 2013 (UTC)

Popular pages tool update
As of January, the popular pages tool has moved from the Toolserver to Wikimedia Tool Labs. The code has changed significantly from the Toolserver version, but users should notice few differences. Please take a moment to look over your project's list for any anomalies, such as pages that you expect to see that are missing or pages that seem to have more views than expected. Note that unlike other tools, this tool aggregates all views from redirects, which means it will typically have higher numbers. (For January 2014 specifically, 35 hours of data is missing from the WMF data, which was approximated from other dates. For most articles, this should yield a more accurate number. However, a few articles, like ones featured on the Main Page, may be off).
Web tools, to replace the ones at tools:~alexz/pop, will become available over the next few weeks at toollabs:popularpages. All of the historical data (back to July 2009 for some projects) has been copied over. The tool to view historical data is currently partially available (assessment data and a few projects may not be available at the moment). The tool to add new projects to the bot's list is also available now (editing the configuration of current projects coming soon). Unlike the previous tool, all changes will be effective immediately. OAuth is used to authenticate users, allowing only regular users to make changes to prevent abuse. A visible history of configuration additions and changes is coming soon. Once tools become fully available, their toolserver versions will redirect to Labs.
If you have any questions, want to report any bugs, or there are any features you would like to see that aren't currently available on the Toolserver tools, see the updated FAQ or contact me on my talk page. Mr.Z-bot (talk) (for Mr.Z-man) 05:16, 23 February 2014 (UTC)

Hey
Comment on the WikiProject X proposal
Hello there! As you may already know, most WikiProjects here on Wikipedia struggle to stay active after they've been founded. I believe there is a lot of potential for WikiProjects to facilitate collaboration across subject areas, so I have submitted a grant proposal with the Wikimedia Foundation for the "WikiProject X" project. WikiProject X will study what makes WikiProjects succeed in retaining editors and then design a prototype WikiProject system that will recruit contributors to WikiProjects and help them run effectively. Please review the proposal here and leave feedback. If you have any questions, you can ask on the proposal page or leave a message on my talk page. Thank you for your time! (Also, sorry about the posting mistake earlier. If someone already moved my message to the talk page, feel free to remove this posting.) Harej (talk) 22:47, 1 October 2014 (UTC)
WikiProject X is live!
Hello everyone!
You may have received a message from me earlier asking you to comment on my WikiProject X proposal. The good news is that WikiProject X is now live! In our first phase, we are focusing on research. At this time, we are looking for people to share their experiences with WikiProjects: good, bad, or neutral. We are also looking for WikiProjects that may be interested in trying out new tools and layouts that will make participating easier and projects easier to maintain. If you or your WikiProject are interested, check us out! Note that this is an opt-in program; no WikiProject will be required to change anything against its wishes. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you!
Note: To receive additional notifications about WikiProject X on this talk page, please add this page to Wikipedia:WikiProject X/Newsletter. Otherwise, this will be the last notification sent about WikiProject X.

Popular pages report
We – Community Tech – are happy to announce that the Popular pages bot is back up-and-running (after a one year hiatus)! You're receiving this message because your WikiProject or task force is signed up to receive the popular pages report. Every month, Community Tech bot will post at Wikipedia:WikiProject Michael Jackson/Archive 2/Popular pages with a list of the most-viewed pages over the previous month that are within the scope of WikiProject Michael Jackson.
We've made some enhancements to the original report. Here's what's new:
- The pageview data includes both desktop and mobile data.
- The report will include a link to the pageviews tool for each article, to dig deeper into any surprises or anomalies.
- The report will include the total pageviews for the entire project (including redirects).
We're grateful to Mr.Z-man for his original Mr.Z-bot, and we wish his bot a happy robot retirement. Just as before, we hope the popular pages reports will aid you in understanding the reach of WikiProject Michael Jackson, and what articles may be deserving of more attention. If you have any questions or concerns please contact us at m:User talk:Community Tech bot.
Warm regards, the Community Tech Team 17:15, 17 May 2017 (UTC)
WikiProject collaboration notice from the Portals WikiProject
The reason I am contacting you is because there are one or more portals that fall under this subject, and the Portals WikiProject is currently undertaking a major drive to automate portals that may affect them.
Portals are being redesigned.
The new design features are being applied to existing portals.
At present, we are gearing up for a maintenance pass of portals in which the introduction section will be upgraded to no longer need a subpage. In place of static copied and pasted excerpts will be self-updating excerpts displayed through selective transclusion, using the template {{Transclude lead excerpt}}.
The discussion about this can be found here.
Maintainers of specific portals are encouraged to sign up as project members here, noting the portals they maintain, so that those portals are skipped by the maintenance pass. Currently, we are interested in upgrading neglected and abandoned portals. There will be opportunity for maintained portals to opt-in later, or the portal maintainers can handle upgrading (the portals they maintain) personally at any time.
Background
On April 8th, 2018, an RfC ("Request for comment") proposal was made to eliminate all portals and the portal namespace. On April 17th, the Portals WikiProject was rebooted to handle the revitalization of the portal system. On May 12th, the RfC was closed with the result to keep portals, by a margin of about 2 to 1 in favor of keeping portals.
Since the reboot, the Portals WikiProject has been busy building tools and components to upgrade portals.
So far, 84 editors have joined.
If you would like to keep abreast of what is happening with portals, see the newsletter archive.
If you have any questions about what is happening with portals or the Portals WikiProject, please post them on the WikiProject's talk page.
Thank you. — The Transhumanist 07:48, 30 May 2018 (UTC)
Peer Review
I've currently opened a peer review for Michael Jackson singles discography.I think the article meets the FL criteria and I'm thinking about nominating it as a FL candidate. It would be helpful if other editors could comment on the article and/or offer suggestions, etc. Thanks. Akhiljaxxn (talk) 05:20, 19 July 2018 (UTC)
A new newsletter directory is out!
A new Newsletter directory has been created to replace the old, out-of-date one. If your WikiProject and its taskforces have newsletters (even inactive ones), or if you know of a missing newsletter (including from sister projects like WikiSpecies), please include it in the directory! The template can be a bit tricky, so if you need help, just post the newsletter on the template's talk page and someone will add it for you.

Request for information on WP1.0 web tool
Hello and greetings from the maintainers of the WP 1.0 Bot! As you may or may not know, we are currently involved in an overhaul of the bot, in order to make it more modern and maintainable. As part of this process, we will be rewriting the web tool that is part of the project. You might have noticed this tool if you click through the links on the project assessment summary tables.
We'd like to collect information on how the current tool is used by....you! How do you yourself and the other maintainers of your project use the web tool? Which of its features do you need? How frequently do you use these features? And what features is the tool missing that would be useful to you? We have collected all of these questions at this Google form where you can leave your response. Walkerma (talk) 04:24, 27 October 2019 (UTC)
