Guidelines
I propose a MoS for biographies.
- Hatnote - Template:Korean name
- Infobox - Wikipedia:WikiProject Biography/Infoboxes, Template:Infobox Korean name
- Hangul in name parameter is not needed. Should only be placed in the lead and Infobox Korean name.
- Lead - brief summary of career (e.g. Moon Geun-young, Girls' Generation)
- Beginnings - (i.e. Early life, Early career; e.g. Kim Tae-hee)
- Career - film, music, etc.
- Members - Only applicable. If no individual articles, see Brave Girls.
- Musical style - if applicable and if verifiable sources exist.
- Public perception - includes controversies, media praise and criticism, and endorsements
- Image - if possible
- Death and legacy -if applicable. Should be useful for Jang Jin-young and Jang Ja-yeon.
- Filmography - this includes Films and TV Shows.
- In tables (year, title, role - English, followed by Korean in brackets, and any notes worth mentioning)
- Only major roles and appearances should be listed in variety shows.
- If role/appearance was cut/edited out for a big specific reason (e.g. scandal, controversies, etc.), do not include in filmography but include in biography.
Year Title Role Notes 2004 Dead Friend Eun-seo (은서) - 2005 Wet Dreams 2 Park Soo-yeon (박수연) -
- Discography - if small, e.g. Sunmi. If split off to another article, e.g. Seo In-young discography, link within Music Career
- If an individual is a member of a group, do not copy and paste the discography of the group onto the individual's page.
- Placing in tables is optional
- Concerts, convention/festival and tours - if applicable. should list only MAJOR PERFORMANCES (needs to be defined). Prose optional.
- Korean Music Festival, KCON, SM Town Live '10 World Tour and any others with major backing (government, city, state and company)
- Awards - if applicable. should list only MAJOR AWARDS. However, a full list of awards can be split off into another article if the list becomes unwieldy.
- Notes - if applicable. includes non-reference footnotes
- References
- External Links - Fan pages do not count.
- Navigation boxes, if applicable
Feedback is welcomed (Trolling will be ignored). ☴ Jaewon [Talk] 19:43, 14 August 2014 (UTC)
- Very nice. I would point to Wikipedia's policy on external links, specifically WP:ELMINOFFICIAL - as fans tend to abuse this one. Also for Filmography like concerts or awards, is there a guidelines towards MAJOR appearances or MAJOR roll? As in, not listing every single variety show or guest show they happen to be on? As idols, their job is to promote themselves - Wikipedia should not be expected to list every appearance. Evaders99 (talk) 18:50, 17 August 2014 (UTC)
- @Evaders99: if person has a page on imdb or kmdb, can they be included or use them for something else? Only major awards should be listed like SBS, KBS, etc. Major concerts, convention/festival and tours like Korean Music Festival, KCON, SM Town Live '10 World Tour and any others with major backing (Governemnt, State and Company). Non-major appearances/roles could be included in career section instead, to prevent long tables of small events/appearances. ☴ Jaewon [Talk] 22:22, 17 August 2014 (UTC)
- I tend to think imdb and other user-generated sites like it are unreliable and not worth linking to. They usually don't contain more than trivial notes or directory listings for people. Wikipedia policy isn't clear on linking to those sites, though at least for references they are unsuitable - WP:RS/IMDB Evaders99 (talk) 22:35, 17 August 2014 (UTC)
- @Evaders99: True, but I still see good articles using it. What about Rotten Tomatoes? ☴ Jaewon [Talk] 22:53, 17 August 2014 (UTC)
- Wikipedia has a stronger recommendations about Rotten Tomatoes - WP:Rotten_Tomatoes_and_Metacritic, though limitations obviously since this isn't English-language movies. Likely a similar site for Korean movies could be used, given if it used in the proper context. Wikipedia discourages linking to specific reviews in External links. Evaders99 (talk) 00:11, 18 August 2014 (UTC)
- @Evaders99: I'll keep a lookout for any similar sites. ☴ Jaewon [Talk] 02:07, 18 August 2014 (UTC)

I like it. For filmography, all roles should be listed. For variety shows, only ones where the person was a major guest and was not just doing a cameo or a short appearance. For example Big Bang appeared in Running Man ep 81 and 82 as the major guests of the episode, this should be in the Big Bang filmography section under variety shows. While our job is not to list everything they do, people do look for filmographies here for a reason. Either we list all major appearances, or we don't consider variety shows part of the filmography, at all. That's also a choice. Teemeah 편지 (letter) 13:47, 19 August 2014 (UTC)
- @Teemeah: Yeah, only major appearances should be listed. What if somebody had a major appearance in a variety show and had their scenes were cut out due to scandals/controversies. Should we still include in filmography or in a different section? ☴ Jaewon [Talk] 15:03, 19 August 2014 (UTC)
- If it did not actually get aired then it should not be in the fimography, since they did not appear on screen, I think. It should rather be mentioned in the biography shortly, if it was a major consequence of a scandal. Teemeah 편지 (letter) 19:48, 19 August 2014 (UTC)
- @Teemeah: Okay, I'll make sure to include that. ☴ Jaewon [Talk] 01:53, 20 August 2014 (UTC)

@Evaders99 and Teemeah: Should I create a subpage in WP Korea for the MoS or add it to Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Korea-related articles? ☴ Jaewon [Talk] 19:09, 25 August 2014 (UTC)
I think the manual of style is enough and then you can link to it from the porject main page? Teemeah 편지 (letter) 13:48, 29 August 2014 (UTC)
- @Teemeah: Ok, I'll add a guideline to the working group that it belongs to and then add a see also section in the MoS linking to it. ☴ Jaewon [Talk] 17:42, 31 August 2014 (UTC)
Inactive?
I've suggested that this working group be marked as "Inactive" due to a lack of participation. If anyone is actively using this working group they may wish to comment at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Korea#Status of WikiProject Korea working groups. Thanks! PC78 (talk) 17:57, 22 July 2019 (UTC)
