Members of Fourteenth Lok Sabha

I have created the above article. We have to fix all the red links. Some of the bios may already exist since the parliament website had them sorted as Last Name, First Name. In these cases, we have to add a redirect to the correct bio page. Your thoughts? - Ganeshk (talk) 15:26, 12 February 2006 (UTC)

Some of these spellings are not commonly used and hence duplicate articles may exist. Hence, it is always better to first tackle entries from one's state etc. For example, several spellings are possible for "Renuka Chowdary" and I had lot of problems in setting the article right. I would happily join the project, but I doubt if I will be able to contribute at least for the next one month in this project. However, I believe I will have more avenues for deploying my copyediting and categorising skills ;) --Gurubrahma 17:44, 12 February 2006 (UTC)
There exists another article called Renuka Choudhury. Can you redirect it to Renuka Chowdhury? - Aksi great 12:27, 14 February 2006 (UTC)
Fixed, I should hv put merge tags and all that, but guess that's ok. but am surprised 'coz you yourself could have fixed it. --Gurubrahma 07:17, 15 February 2006 (UTC)
Thanks. I didn't do it myself, coz am still scared of messing things up. Probably should be more bold next time. - Aksi great 10:31, 17 February 2006 (UTC)

Current affairs

Apart from getting FAs, we should try to make it to other main page sections such as DYK and "in the news." For example, there was no article on Operation Duryodhan for a long time - even now it remains a hastily written stub. Probably, we should start working on such historically significant (MPs getting expelled) articles. --Gurubrahma 17:44, 12 February 2006 (UTC)

Fourteenth Rajya Sabha?

I don't think there is any such thing as a '14th' Rajya Sabha. An article is needed for Members of Rajya Sabha on the lines of 14th Lok Sabha. - Aksi great 12:27, 14 February 2006 (UTC)

Fixed. - Ganeshk (talk) 14:50, 14 February 2006 (UTC)

Government of India?

Does the Politics project encompass the Government of India? Should it include articles on the Legislature (Lok Sabha, Rajya Sabha) and the Judiciary (Supreme Court of India, High Courts of India)?--May the Force be with you! Shreshth91($ |-| r 3 $ |-| t |-|) 03:37, 15 February 2006 (UTC)

All the links that you have mentioned would be part of this project. - Ganeshk (talk) 08:14, 15 February 2006 (UTC)

Politics of India?

Are Political Parties of India also part of the project. Or are we currently focussing on more bios? What about constituencies of Lok Sabha? - Aksi great 12:29, 15 February 2006 (UTC)

Political Parties of India and constituencies of Lok Sabha also need attention. I will put up stats for these on the main page soon. We also need to add disambigation pages so that people looking for constituency could differentiate them from the geography articles. A link from the main geography city article may help too. - Ganeshk (talk) 15:16, 15 February 2006 (UTC)

14th Lok Sabha again

I just wanted people to exercise caution before creating articles. i just found that we have a red link for K. Chandra Shakher Rao, but we already have an article at K. Chandrashekar Rao. Hence, at the risk of appearing repetitive, I request people to exercise caution in creating these articles. --Gurubrahma 17:19, 15 February 2006 (UTC)

I fixed the typo in the 14th Lok Sabha article to point to K. Chandrashekar Rao and updated stat count for AP. - Ganeshk (talk) 18:20, 15 February 2006 (UTC)

I copied the politician infobox and added to a new field, Constituency. That is a much needed on the infobox. Creating our own sub-template gives us freedom to make India relavant changes. Please use this infobox for all the biographies. - Ganeshk (talk) 01:13, 16 February 2006 (UTC)

Politician Images

Help required to find appropriate images of poiliticians. Seems that the photos on the Lok Sabha of India website are not under public domain (for example: The photo on the page T. R. Baalu cannot be used (though it is being used!)). So, if anyone finds appropriate sources for images, kindly upload them. Without images the Indian politician infobox looks quite useless. - Aksi great 17:02, 25 February 2006 (UTC)

Selling of INDIA

Dear Friends, For the past few years I have been seeing that somehow INDIA is on the auction block of the world & the auctoneers are the elected represtative we have put in place to protect our country & interests. I would like to draw your attention to the following few incidents :

1. CAS implementation at the time of Mr. PRAMOD MAHAJAN.

2. Sale of profit making aluminium factory in jharkhand.

3. Current demolition drive in Delhi.

Please comment on this Thanks Sir Abhi — Preceding unsigned comment added by SirAbhi (talkcontribs)

Attention please!

The picture used in the template Wikiprojects of India has copyright issues. Many of the articles related to politicians and others, esp. Narendra Modi and Mayawati are being defaced and POV-pushed through by anonymous users. We need to put a check on that. That is degrading the quality of Wikipedia. Please watch these pages, and maintain WP:NPOV and WP:V. --Andy123(talk) 12:06, 12 April 2006 (UTC)

Mandal commission

Hello, I see you have lots of open tasks. The Mandal commission article was tagged for cleanup since March 2005. I made some edits to the opening paragraph and found a citation, but it's not a subject I am even close to familiar with. Someone more with more knowledge about this should probably take a look. Thanks! Kaisershatner 19:46, 18 April 2006 (UTC)

Ha ha, this may be entirely unintentional, but both the templates resemble the flag of BJP. Congress supporters, change the template color codings. btw, I have probly. made my first contribution to this project, by creating an article on Jaggayya after my question on WP:PINQ. --Gurubrahma 05:04, 24 April 2006 (UTC)
The colours of these templates needs to be different to distinguish these two parties. --Siva1979Talk to me 16:03, 6 May 2006 (UTC)

Template:Indian-politician-photo

Please view my sandbox here. I am proposing a template based on Template:Canada-politician-photo to use for Indian politicians. If there is consensus then we can use images from the Government of India website to identify Indian politicians. - Aksi_great (talk) 16:52, 23 April 2006 (UTC)

My friend, this does not work on a consensus. The images have to be under public domain if they are to be used freely on Wikipedia. You can use the fair use rationale as of now. --Andy123(talk) 19:42, 23 April 2006 (UTC)
Check the presentation of rationale as provided on Image:Narendramodi.jpg --Andy123(talk) 19:44, 23 April 2006 (UTC)
The new template still marks them fairuse and explains the reason correctly. This template will work only in English Wikipedia. - Ganeshk (talk) 19:47, 23 April 2006 (UTC)
The new template simply copies over the reasoning you had provided in the Modi image so that it need not be typed in everytime. Hope I explained it clearly. Please let me know if not. - Ganeshk (talk) 19:50, 23 April 2006 (UTC)

NOTE: Please give your views on this template here. More people are likely to review the template at the Indian notice board rather than here. - Aksi_great (talk) 01:18, 24 April 2006 (UTC)

Should the above template contain a link to the POI wikiproject? I so, then I think we would have to stub the politbox and instead of that, add the following code:

Politics - Politics portal - Project
style="text-align: center; font-size:12px;"|India
style="text-align: center; font-size:11px;"|<br />
<small>This article is part of the series:</small><br />
Politics and government of<br>India
style="border-top:1px solid;"|

This expands to give:

Politics - Politics portal - Project
India

This article is part of the series:
Politics and government of
India

I may not be online for the next few days, so any changes should be done without me. for eg, instead of "Project" on the link title we could have "WikiProject". --May the Force be with you! Shreshth91($ |-| ŗ 3 $ |-| ţ |-|) 12:41, 6 May 2006 (UTC)

Comment: I think this fails WP:SELF. Need to avoid referencing wikipedia namespace from the article namespace. - Ganeshk (talk) 15:29, 6 May 2006 (UTC)

Cats to use

Category:Actor-politicians has been around for sometime. Category:Cricketer-politicians has been created today. Both of them should be useful for our project. --Gurubrahma 10:21, 1 June 2006 (UTC)

Indian politicians images

I noticed that the image on the C Kuppusami was deleted from Commons. It was fair since Commons does allow fair use images. I still see some images sitting there. To ensure images do not get deleted, please load all politician images here in Wikipedia and mark them with India-politician-photo. Thanks, Ganeshk (talk) 00:49, 8 June 2006 (UTC)

Political party stub template

Is there any stub template for political parties of India? The one I found for politicians of India, I put in the main page -- Lost 11:26, 13 June 2006 (UTC)

It's India-party-stub. - Ganeshk (talk) 15:31, 13 June 2006 (UTC)

List of Chief Ministers of Tamil Nadu was recently promoted as a featured list. This is second featured material of this project after List of recognised political parties in India. Thanks to everyone who helped out. - Ganeshk (talk) 15:28, 13 June 2006 (UTC)

Rymbai

Too bad none of us came round to creating an article. I've just created a stub, please add to Rymbai. --Gurubrahma 08:13, 18 June 2006 (UTC)

I updated the template to be used as a fair use rationale. Usage:

Source:

Licensing
Article name

Fairuse in Article name
India-politician-photo

- Ganeshk (talk) 13:18, 18 June 2006 (UTC)

I think that the template shouldn't have the Tnavbar template. --May the Force be with you! Shreshth91(review me!) 18:16, 18 June 2006 (UTC)
Why do you think so? - Ganeshk (talk) 19:16, 18 June 2006 (UTC)
Removed to be consistent with the Fairusein box. - Ganeshk (talk) 19:22, 18 June 2006 (UTC)

Rajiv Gandhi in bad shape

While the article seems to be ok at a glance, there is not a single reference. it also makes controversial claims that Rajiv converted to christianity. Could someone please fix the article? TIA, --Gurubrahma 05:59, 24 June 2006 (UTC)

Please keep a check on this guy someone.

WikiProject India

The following discussion is copied from WT:INB. Please respond there to keep the discussion centralised.

I think we should retire templates for the various Indian wikiprojects such as Wikiproject Indian districts, Wikiproject Indian cinema, Wikiproject History of India etc. and replace them all with WP India. It has various advantages over the others.

 • We can rate the articles - the rating counts appear on the WP:IND page as we do so.
 • Each of the above child projects can get exposure as the template can incorporate their names as well.
 • This will guide new people and other interested readers to a centralised project page and help us recruit better for the projects.
 • It will help rejuvenate the WP:IND. It has the lowest no. of members of all these projects.

These are just some thoughts. If there is agreement on this, we can start by replacing the templates on the project pages with the WP India template. -- Lost(talk) 18:27, 16 September 2006 (UTC)

Hi all - I request your attention and participation in improvizing this newsletter. Rama's arrow 20:17, 17 September 2006 (UTC)

Portal:Government of India has been created. Please suggest your views to make it improve. Please take participation in article and list selection. Actually it will work from October 1 in full phase, so anniversary also has dated October 1. Shyam (T/C) 20:51, 19 September 2006 (UTC)

Dead/former members of Lok Sabha: a new template?

Congratulations on completing 14th Lok Sabha. Updating an individual article, like A. B. A. Ghani Khan Choudhury who died earlier this year, made me think that a new template would be useful for dead/former members. Or is there one somewhere already? --Mereda 12:09, 4 October 2006 (UTC)

Yes Mereda, good idea. Go ahead. I don't think there already exists this kind of template. You can create and put it to relevant pages. Shyam (T/C) 15:36, 4 October 2006 (UTC)
Will Infobox Biography not do the job? If they died, it becomes a biography article. Just my thoughts. - Ganeshk (talk) 15:54, 4 October 2006 (UTC)

Notification for the discussion on Election results section

@Venkat TL I think posting about this discussion on the main WT:IN would be a good gesture, if someone is interested in this area but not watching this page. What do you think about the main WP:Politics project? — DaxServer (talk · contribs) 13:41, 3 February 2022 (UTC)

Good Idea, I have notified WT:IN. WP:Politics seem to be dead, very little activity on that page, so I did not post there. Feel free to post if you think it might help. overall these guidelines at MOS:INDCONST are aimed at reducing spam. It should not lead to disputes. If disputed, it should be included as special cases. (I move this thread out as it is a side discussion.) --Venkat TL (talk) 14:01, 3 February 2022 (UTC)
Sorry, I meant Wikipedia:WikiProject Politics and not Wikipedia:Politics Silly me 😂 — DaxServer (talk · contribs) 14:38, 3 February 2022 (UTC)
Ok. Even the WP:WP Politics is not very active. I posted there 2 weeks back and no reply. Dont see any active discussion. Venkat TL (talk) 15:00, 3 February 2022 (UTC)
That's very unfortunate. Only the RfC had engagement, only because it's advertised. — DaxServer (talk · contribs) 15:37, 3 February 2022 (UTC)
@DaxServer I guess the Americans and the British are active on their own tarkforce page just like the Indians. Venkat TL (talk) 15:39, 3 February 2022 (UTC)
