User:Editor182 has been posting the image File:Richard Roxburgh as Count Dracula.jpg on the following articles:
The image is Editor182's personal fan art of Richard Roxburgh as Dracula in the film Van Helsing. Although I have to assume good faith, I think that Editor182 wants to show off their art--because nowhere in the article does it call for an image of Roxburgh as Dracula. It's not like it's a real person with no free image available, so a drawing is the only substitute. Nor does it add anything of note to the article--it is purely decorative. Editor182 has even gone far as to replace an image of a wax figure of Bela Lugosi as Dracula with Roxburgh.
But if this was a drawing of Bela Lugosi or Christopher Lee, that would be another matter entirely. But Richard Roxburgh from Van Helsing? Count Chocula or the Count from Sesame Street are more notable than he is. Roxburgh is simply not a notable interpretation of Dracula. To put him on articles that discuss Dracula from the novel is nothing short of absurd. If you take a look at Count Dracula, you'll see there are already images of Lugosi, Lee, Max Shreck (Nosferatu) and the real Vlad Tepes. Think for a moment and ask if anything from Van Helsing should be with them.--24.147.231.200 (talk) 16:47, 9 August 2010 (UTC)

Saw VI
Just a heads up to what remains of our crew that Saw VI has been a featured article nominee. We should try to take a look to see if anyone can help this article pass. Cheers! Andrzejbanas (talk) 19:05, 8 September 2010 (UTC)
Doumentaries and television series horror films?
Why is it that on List of horror films: 2009 some of the documentaries and tv series are also listed? also there are alot of red links on that, with no references. so is it really neccesary to list film that may or may not ahve been produced, sinc eno way to verify from the article. All the articles in List of horror films ..... series have that problem. Gman124 talk 19:47, 9 September 2010 (UTC)
Also Angels & Demons (film), and Bitch Slap are just a few i checked from the list. I don;t think they are horror, thriller sure, but not horror. And had to remove Black Dynamite from there, i think thats a comedy. So, does your project seriouly consider thriller films to be horror? They should be put in "List of Thriller films: ..." Gman124 talk 19:54, 9 September 2010 (UTC)
- Hello! I'm glad you asked! I can't speak for everyone, but these do NOT belong on that list. That list was edited into infinity by User:Zombie433, who for various reasons was banned. I'm attempting to clean up the list with citations. I've cleaned up the 1930s, some of the 1940s, and 2000, 2001, 2002 and 2010. It's a work in progress. Also, no, we generally don't consider thrillers as part of the project I believe! Andrzejbanas (talk) 00:40, 10 September 2010 (UTC)
- Ok. thanks will try to remove thriller movies and put em at "List of thriller Movies: ....". SO what about the red links, without citations? Also I have never seen a documentary based on films, but do any ever qualify as thriller of horor? Gman124 talk 01:18, 10 September 2010 (UTC)
- I wouldn't include documentaries based on horror films. Genre films like horror, or adventure generally aren't really related. It's appropriate to have documentary films on horror directors, writers, films as part of the Horror Project though. Andrzejbanas (talk) 01:44, 10 September 2010 (UTC)
Participants page
Any suggestions on how to clean the participants page up? Looking through the "active members", there's at least some who haven't edited Wikipedia for a while.--The Taerkasten (talk) 18:30, 10 September 2010 (UTC)
- Only thing I can think of is a request to all these people to sign the list above to get a modern view of it. If they do not reply within a week, then it's perhaps time to remove them from the list. Any other ideas? Andrzejbanas (talk) 06:25, 11 September 2010 (UTC)
- I can't think of anything better. Suppose that'll have to do.--The Taerkasten (talk) 16:34, 11 September 2010 (UTC)
- Neither can I. Contacting them on their talkpages seems to be the best way. Kaguya-chan (talk) 20:12, 13 September 2010 (UTC)
- It would be easier if a generic message was created, so whilst we'd still have to send it to all supposedly "active" members, we wouldn't have to type everything out.--The Taerkasten (talk) 12:10, 17 September 2010 (UTC)
- Hmm. Something like "We are holding a roll call to see who is still active in WikiProject Horror. If you are an active member, please add your name to the roll call. This roll call will go on for _, beginning on September 6, 2010 and ending on _ 2010." I suppose then we'll want to figure out how long the roll call should run for. A week seems too short and has already passed. Kaguya-chan (talk) 14:36, 18 September 2010 (UTC)
- Another alternative which requires less work and time is to make a section for "Inactive participants" and move anyone down there who hasn't edited in 6 months or so. ···日本穣? · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe · Join WikiProject Japan! 16:33, 18 September 2010 (UTC)
- That would be less work...Anyone in favor of it? Kaguya-chan (talk) 00:12, 26 September 2010 (UTC)
- I think it's a good idea.--The Taerkasten (talk) 15:57, 26 September 2010 (UTC)
- Another benefit of this method is that it could be entirely maintained by a bot. ···日本穣? · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe · Join WikiProject Japan! 18:31, 26 September 2010 (UTC)
If anyone would be willing to do it that's not a bad idea. I'm not sure how bots work on this site, anyone know or know of someone who knows? Andrzejbanas (talk) 21:45, 26 September 2010 (UTC)
- The easiest way would be to go make a request at WP:BOTREQ. Just clearly spell out what you want done, point them to this discussion, and someone will likely add it to their bot's list of tasks after a brief discussion. ···日本穣? · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe · Join WikiProject Japan! 00:47, 27 September 2010 (UTC)
- Excellent, we should try to set something like this out. Didn't know that page existed. The more I know. Andrzejbanas (talk) 12:40, 27 September 2010 (UTC)

- Doesn't look like much progress has been made so far, we really need to come up with a way to revitalise this project.--The Taerkasten (talk) 15:05, 8 October 2010 (UTC)
- OK, we need to do something about the participants page, especially seeing as how WP:HORROR is going to be featured in the upcoming Signpost.--The Taerkasten (talk) 20:27, 22 October 2010 (UTC)
- I think the best approach would remove anyone that that has been blocked or hasn't edited in over a year. Or delete everyone that hasn't added their name in the roll call. If they are active in the project, surely they have this page on their watchlist or at least visit regularly. Mike Allen 01:11, 23 October 2010 (UTC)
- We could start afresh, remove everyone, and then people who are active can add themselves.--The Taerkasten (talk) 18:22, 25 October 2010 (UTC)
- That would technically be easier, as it could take awhile to go through all those names. BIGNOLE (Contact me) 19:05, 25 October 2010 (UTC)
- Sounds like a good idea. Kaguya-chan (talk) 20:45, 25 October 2010 (UTC)
- Done. OK, everyone should now add their names to the active members page. Not sure whether to clear the inactive ones, either.--The Taerkasten (talk) 09:45, 26 October 2010 (UTC)
Assistant or Deputy Coordinator
Would anybody be interested in serving as the Deputy Coordinator or an Assistant Coordinator? At the moment, it's not really a big deal since the project is largely inactive, but if anybody's interested, just add your name to the Coordinator page, elections aren't taking place at the moment. --The Taerkasten (talk) 19:31, 10 September 2010 (UTC)
- Is anyone at all interested in being the Deputy Coordinator?--The Taerkasten (talk) 12:10, 17 September 2010 (UTC)
- If no one else wants too, I could try to step in and help. Andrzejbanas (talk) 12:19, 17 September 2010 (UTC)
- That'd be great, at this moment in time, this project could really use all the help it can get.--The Taerkasten (talk) 13:50, 17 September 2010 (UTC)
- Anyone? --The Taerkasten (talk) 15:05, 8 October 2010 (UTC)
- I've appointed myself. :) Andrzejbanas (talk) 12:55, 13 October 2010 (UTC)

Horror articles have been selected for the Wikipedia 0.8 release
Version 0.8 is a collection of Wikipedia articles selected by the Wikipedia 1.0 team for offline release on USB key, DVD and mobile phone. Articles were selected based on their assessed importance and quality, then article versions (revisionIDs) were chosen for trustworthiness (freedom from vandalism) using an adaptation of the WikiTrust algorithm.
We would like to ask you to review the Horror articles and revisionIDs we have chosen. Selected articles are marked with a diamond symbol (♦) to the right of each article, and this symbol links to the selected version of each article. If you believe we have included or excluded articles inappropriately, please contact us at Wikipedia talk:Version 0.8 with the details. You may wish to look at your WikiProject's articles with cleanup tags and try to improve any that need work; if you do, please give us the new revisionID at Wikipedia talk:Version 0.8. We would like to complete this consultation period by midnight UTC on Monday, October 11th.
We have greatly streamlined the process since the Version 0.7 release, so we aim to have the collection ready for distribution by the end of October, 2010. As a result, we are planning to distribute the collection much more widely, while continuing to work with groups such as One Laptop per Child and Wikipedia for Schools to extend the reach of Wikipedia worldwide. Please help us, with your WikiProject's feedback!

Did you know/Halloween 2010
Just a suggestion for idea for this project: At Wikipedia:Did you know/Halloween 2010, they are taking in suggestions for more macabre themed new/expanded articles for the holiday. I suggest we try to include more horror theme ones for the articles. I've done one for Death Bell 2: Bloody Camp and I suggest a few more before Halloween kicks in. Can anyone else contribute any in the next 4-5 days? Andrzejbanas (talk) 13:53, 19 October 2010 (UTC)
- Well, I created Haunted House yesterday, but I can't think of a hook for it. Kaguya-chan (talk) 20:36, 20 October 2010 (UTC)
- I took at stab at it. Let's hope it makes it on the list. Good job on the article! Andrzejbanas (talk) 01:49, 21 October 2010 (UTC)
- Haunted House, Death Bell 2: Bloody Camp, and Mutant Girls Squad are articles that got into the Halloween DYK. Andrzejbanas (talk) 12:11, 23 October 2010 (UTC)
- I took at stab at it. Let's hope it makes it on the list. Good job on the article! Andrzejbanas (talk) 01:49, 21 October 2010 (UTC)
WP Horror in the Signpost
"WikiProject Report" would like to focus on WikiProject Horror for a Signpost article to be published next week. This is an excellent opportunity to draw attention to your efforts and attract new members to the project. Would you be willing to participate in an interview? If so, here are the questions for the interview. Just add your response below each question and feel free to skip any questions that you don't feel comfortable answering. Have a great day. -Mabeenot (talk) 03:58, 21 October 2010 (UTC)
WikiProject cleanup listing
I have created together with Smallman12q a toolserver tool that shows a weekly-updated list of cleanup categories for WikiProjects, that can be used as a replacement for WolterBot and this WikiProject is among those that are already included (because it is a member of Category:WolterBot cleanup listing subscriptions). See the tool's wiki page, this project's listing in one big table or by categories and the index of WikiProjects. Svick (talk) 20:13, 7 November 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks for the notice Svick, I have added {{WikiProject cleanup listing}} template, since Wolterbot is no longer active. There are 38% Horror articles needing cleanup. Damn! JJ98 (Talk) 10:35, 10 December 2010 (UTC)
- Well, we WP Horror memebers are somewhat lacking in numbers, so it's not really surprising. I'm planning on a drive sometime next year to attract more members, but it won't be happening anytime soon.--TÆRkast (Communicate) 12:04, 12 December 2010 (UTC)
Invitation to participation!
Hello!
As you may be aware, the Wikimedia Foundation is gearing up for our annual fundraiser. We want to hit our goal and hit it as soon as possible, so that we can focus on Wikipedia's tenth anniversary on January 15 and our new project: Contributions. I'm posting across these Wikiprojects to engage you, the community, to work to build Wikipedia by finance but also by content. We seek donations not only financially, but by collaboration in building content. You can find more information in Philippe Beaudette's memo to the communities here.
Visit the Contribution project page and the Fundraising page to find out how you can help us support and spread free knowledge. Keegan, Wikimedia Fundraiser 2010 (talk) 05:45, 8 November 2010 (UTC)
Halloween (1978) FAR
I have nominated Halloween (1978 film) for a featured article review here. Please join the discussion on whether this article meets featured article criteria. Articles are typically reviewed for two weeks. If substantial concerns are not addressed during the review period, the article will be moved to the Featured Article Removal Candidates list for a further period, where editors may declare "Keep" or "Delist" the article's featured status. The instructions for the review process are here.--The Taerkasten (talk) 19:12, 1 December 2010 (UTC)
List of horror films 2010s
The articles that are linked from List of horror films: 2010s are in really really bad shape. I've cleaned up the List of horror films: 2010. But in the 2011 list, already has over 400 films listed, and from 50 cites I've looked at, barely any of them state whether the film is a horror film, the year it's being released, or the production countries. It gets worse in the 2012, section, where films like Men in Black 3D and Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides are being listed. I've started a discussion on the 2011 page to have these page simply re-direct to the 2010 page which can be moved around. Any more opinions would be greatly appreciated. Andrzejbanas (talk) 20:44, 16 December 2010 (UTC)
- Well, it's interesting really, because I was thinking that we could have some sort of Horror drive next year to recruit more members, presumably about editing horror-related articles or something like that. I think this list would probably benefit, as well as the entire project.--TÆRkast (Communicate) 17:50, 17 December 2010 (UTC)
- As there was no other discussion further and the fact that those pages were a mess. I've had them re-direct. to the List of 2000s horror films. The 1970s, 1980s 1990s and some of the 2000s horror films still need work. But it's getting there! Andrzejbanas (talk) 15:18, 30 December 2010 (UTC)
- Good work, this year I really want to have us come up with some ideas on how to attract new members, I don't want this project to die a slow and painful death. A drive might just be the right thing.--TÆRkast (Communicate) 15:50, 1 January 2011 (UTC)
