Bot-generated lists

It would be not too difficult to get a bot to create automated lists of all articles tagged with the project template and the "quality" they've been assessed with by the Germany project (compare Wikipedia:Version 1.0 Editorial Team/Mainz articles by quality). If we don't include an extra Frankfurt-related "importance" parameter (which is not really necessary in a project like this, which doesn't look like it will have more than 400 articles soon) it can be done in a couple of minutes by adding some categories to the {{WikiProject Germany}} template and getting Mathbot to parse them. Of course the real work is to tag all articles with the project template. Kusma (討論) 20:59, 22 January 2007 (UTC)

City divisions

Lately, I have been busy working on {{Infobox German Location}} and I have just applied it to the Frankfurt entry. When I saw that the German wiki entry listed the 3 different levels of subdivisions within the city (16 Ortsbezirke, 46 Stadtteile, 118 Stadtbezirke), that was a bit more information than normally given for a city.

The problem that you mentioned on the project page regarding what to call these different levels of division is a tricky one, but one that I am interested in solving. It was intended that this infobox template be also suited for city/town/municipality divisions, but if an agreed set of names is used to describe these divisions, that makes it a lot easier to code the template in the future. And since this is an English wiki, English names should be used when possible. Some examples of subdivision infoboxes is given at User:52 Pickup/Drafts/Test locations - these use my test version of the infobox, not the real one. I know about {{Infobox Frankfurt Stadtteil}}, but if Infobox German Location can be modified to handle city subdivisions, it will no longer be necessary to make separate templates for every city. So any help would be appreciated.

From looking at how other cities are divided: "16 Ortsbezirke, 46 Stadtteile, 118 Stadtbezirke" could realistically be translated to "16 boroughs, 46 suburbs, 118 precincts". How does this sound? For now, I've put "46 suburbs" in the Frankfurt infobox. - 52 Pickup 17:48, 23 January 2007 (UTC)

I'm not too happy about "suburbs". I have tried to use "district of the city of blah" for Stadtteile, but this risks confusion with "urban district" for Stadtkreis. In Berlin, we currently use "borough" for stuff like Lichtenberg and have a Category:Districts of Berlin that contains all kinds of divisions on several levels. See also Boroughs and localities of Berlin. Kusma (討論) 07:16, 24 January 2007 (UTC)
Valid point. While suburbs would make sense for inhabited areas, it doesn't really fit for urban areas. So I've changed "suburbs" to "districts". Even though "district" here clashes with "urban district", as you pointed out, it is still correct. For further development of a solution to this problem, there has been some discussion on Template talk:Infobox German Location#Categories: Cities/Towns/Villages in (state) and your input would be greatly appreciated. - 52 Pickup 10:13, 25 January 2007 (UTC)
Perhaps a way to overcome the translation problem is to not translate, rather have articles for these different divisions. There is already a small article for Stadtbezirk - 52 Pickup 17:10, 31 January 2007 (UTC)
