Unwatched pages

[edit]

I have a suggestion regarding a number of pages that fall under the scope of this project that are "Unwatched". If anyone wishes to help out please reply here. Thank-you. Ben MacDui 19:41, 28 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Although some pages might be unwatched, they are always available for checking here. Every member is encouraged to check this page regularly. ChrisDHDR 16:14, 8 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Please note that this status currently affects almost every article in chronological order from 1769 in France to 1967 in France. Regards, Ben MacDui 18:03, 8 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I was also thinking about implementing a review department similar to WP:CHICAGO and WP:MILHIST. I made a draft in my Userspace (basically a copy of Chicago's). I think this would be a nice place where we could keep an eye on articles currently undergoing reviews. This could assist us in ameliorating those works. What do you folks think? Lazulilasher (talk) 17:58, 12 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
This seems a great idea. I'm very new to the whole project notion and there seem to be a lot of different pages to keep an eye on. Maybe that's just the wikiway and I'll get used to it. Mcewan (talk) 22:58, 12 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, I'll start work on a draft. Do you have any particular ideas or suggestions? Things you may have noticed that could be improved? Lazulilasher (talk) 01:32, 13 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I've been adding the {{WikiProject France}} tag here and there when browsing around (e.g. Talk:Louis III of Naples). Is there a way of looking for all such recent changes, so that they can be reviewed, and then categorised, etc, as they enter the project scope? Mcewan (talk) 13:32, 14 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Wikipedia:Version 1.0 Editorial Team/France articles by quality log. Ben MacDui 14:57, 14 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
There's also a bot in development that will be posting all activity on tagged pages--i.e. deleltion nominations, RfC requests, Good Article noms, etc. It should help keep while keeping track of things. Lazulilasher (talk) 16:46, 14 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. Unfortunately, it's a bit clogged up right now with a lot of "removes" where the France Project tag has been replaced by the French Communes one. Can it be made to ignore removes where the new tag points at a project that is within the removed project? (If you see what I mean, sorry) Mcewan (talk) 16:58, 14 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
One of the side-effects of these pages not being on someone's watchlist is that Special:Unwatchedpages is filled with these entries. Since that page lists a maximum of 1000 entries, admins cannot find other unwatched pages that occur later in the list. We need to get these pages off the Unwatchedpages listing. Mindmatrix 15:49, 17 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, I didn't realise that. So what can we do? I autowatch anything I edit, but I haven't been around that long. Mcewan (talk) 16:21, 17 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Multiple User Lists

[edit]

Why do we have the Inactive Users and Active Users as well as the table? Shouldn't these be auto-generated from User Talk page tags? Can I delete everything except the table? Mcewan (talk) 23:09, 12 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

McEwan, I'm thinking about working toward a complete redesign of the project. It seems that it could use a good update. Also, any interest in getting a newsletter together? Lazulilasher (talk) 00:23, 13 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Absolutely - allons-y! Mcewan (talk) 01:06, 13 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Formatting Help

[edit]

I've been trying to tidy this up but keep hitting the problem that no matter what I do, the user table always goes to the bottom of the page. Can anyone help? Thanks Mcewan (talk) 21:24, 14 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Fixed it - trailing hyphen in table markup. Mcewan (talk) 21:47, 14 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

This looks good

[edit]

Thanks for reformatting this. It looks a lot better, now. Lazulilasher (talk) 22:11, 14 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks - I'm part way through a redesign to make it fit better with your recent work. It's here User:Mcewan/Sandbox/Member_List_Draft. Comments, etc welcome of course! Mcewan (talk) 23:00, 14 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, I could do with your help. What I would like to do is transclude, (if that's the word), the automatically generated list of members (from the category), but am, having trouble. Could you take a look? I'd also be interested in your opinion on the revised wording - there's more to do, but I am trying to make it something that would have been more usefull to me initially. Many thanks. Mcewan (talk) 23:05, 14 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hmm...I don't know if it's possible to transclude the contents of a category. I tried it a few different ways, but couldn't get it to work. Perhaps try The Village Pump? I'll take a look at the wording, later. Thanks for fixing all of this. I think we're making progress. Lazulilasher (talk) 01:50, 15 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I've made some progress with the list of member category members. However it's a bit ugly when the userbox or category is on a subpage, and there are some duplicates. Mcewan (talk) 09:41, 15 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Wow, that looks great. Good job. I have the user box in a subpage :) Lazulilasher (talk) 15:31, 15 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Also, were you able to transclude the category? And if so, how? Lazulilasher (talk) 15:31, 15 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Well it's not exactly transclusion but <categorytree> is a reasonably flexibly way of listing categories and thir pages. Mcewan (talk) 15:43, 15 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Interesting. I didn't know that. As an aside, I've noticed that you participate in project related AfDs. Is there an easier method that you find the relevant AfDs besides combing through the 1000s of nominations? Lazulilasher (talk) 17:08, 15 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I think it was probably Wikipedia:WikiProject Deletion sorting/France or something similar Mcewan (talk) 20:39, 15 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
