Assessing mid level players

I would recommend that, in the assessment scale we have the mid level to be "Current and former starters" and move people who were not regular starters or were only spot starters to the low level. Obviously that also depends on length of service and important moments, but putting all former players on the mid level seems a little silly. What do you all think? I'd love to see the assessment scale created. If we start with sorting players I'd have the following recommendations: (1) Don't discriminate based on when they played, meaning that current players shouldn't take precedence over previous players (2) Instead of trying to distinguish between "starters" and "reserves", which can be a complicated process, why not divide the importance level by appearances (or better yet, minutes played)? It isn't a perfect metric, but is relatively accurate measure of importance and more importantly is easy to sort. ~ Fopam (talk) 16:02, 11 July 2011 (UTC)

I like that idea, but we need to find a good list of minutes played/games played as a DC United player. If you go to dcunited.com, you can get all-time stats, including games played and minutes played; however, they are just that players overall minutes, not the minutes they played with DC United. First on that list is Jaime Moreno, which makes sense, but the next player is Mike Petke, who only played two and a half seasons for United. I'll poke around and see if I can find anything, but if anyone else knows of a better database, let us know. Benuski (talk) 13:34, 12 July 2011 (UTC)

It might be nice to improve the All-time D.C. United roster article. The majority of players listed there have Wikipedia articles, which should list appearances. It might be nice to transform that page into a chart of statistics. I agree with that idea, and think that we should model it off List of Seattle Sounders FC players. I will mark that article as a top priority and start working on it this weekend. Once we have that set up, we can look at the numbers of games played and work out a metric for dividing players between high, medium, and low. Benuski (talk) 14:32, 15 July 2011 (UTC)

Now that that page is complete, what should the metrics be? My suggestion is everyone over 100 caps be high priority, everyone with between 40 and 99 caps be mid, and everyone with 39 or fewer caps be low priority, but that's not really based on anything besides eyeballing it. Excellent job on collecting the data and improving the page. It's an excellent resource even outside the scope of rating players. As for the metrics, I agree with your grouping (i.e. high>=100, 100>mid>=40, 40>low). ~ Fopam (talk) 14:32, 20 July 2011 (UTC)

Numerous new photographs

I have spoken to several photographers who were kind enough to change the licensing of their images so that they may be used on Wikipedia. A gallery of the images along with further information can be found at User:Fopam/DCU gallery. I have attempted to place them in appropriate articles, but please feel free to see if they are useful elsewhere. I'm going to contact D.C. United about the possibility of licensing some of their images under Creative Commons so that the images can be incorporated into articles (e.g. the Atlantic Cup article could use some photographs of United players holding the trophey). Thanks for the contribution! It would be nice to get some tifos of the other D.C. United supporters as well. Especially the "You can't hold us back we are united" tifo by Screaming Eagles in the 2012 postseason. I've looked around but cannot find an appropriate image with an acceptable copyright. Request for information on WP1.0 web tool

Hello and greetings from the maintainers of the WP 1.0 Bot! As you may or may not know, we are currently involved in an overhaul of the bot, in order to make it more modern and maintainable. As part of this process, we will be rewriting the web tool that is part of the project. You might have noticed this tool if you click through the links on the project assessment summary tables.

We'd like to collect information on how the current tool is used by....you! How do you yourself and the other maintainers of your project use the web tool? Which of its features do you need? How frequently do you use these features? And what features is the tool missing that would be useful to you?
