News: New Releases

[edit]

Should I make a separate section for new releases? I think that adding each individual item to the corresponding years might make things a bit cluttered. Mr. Gerbear|Talk 02:43, 3 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

That might be a better solution, yes; although do we need to add sources (or links to websites) to the newsletter? Makes it look like we're creating an article. But then again, the links could be useful for anyone wishing to update articles with such news. Anything to help improve the newsletter is always welcome. WesleyMouse 07:34, 3 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, that's what I thought. Even if it might look article-y, we do need to cite our info and point the readers out in the direction of the information. Mr. Gerbear|Talk 14:46, 3 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
How's about a newsletter design that looks like this? WesleyMouse 22:58, 3 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
And perhaps this could be a useful tool for finding articles attached to the project that require extensive work. WesleyMouse 23:01, 3 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I've done some testing with a new format for the newsletter. Wikipedia:WikiProject Eurovision/Newsletters/July 2013/Delivery produces a brief headline with project statistics, which would be delivered to every member. For them to read the full newsletter they would need to click on the newspaper icon which will direct them to the full article. Feel free to try out the prototype that I've created. I like this idea. :) Mr. Gerbear|Talk 08:24, 4 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
We're almost ready to publish. Is there anything else that you can think of before we finalise the draft and mail it out to members? I've added some neat features to the newsletter, such the heart logo which when clicked on will direct people back to their talk pages, and clicking on the issue month which directs people back to the delivery (statistics) page. WesleyMouse 02:52, 6 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Those are definitely cool. I'll hold off from adding the new releases section for now. I'll need more time to compile them and figure out a good layout, which can wait until the next issue. Thank you for your hard work! Mr. Gerbear|Talk 05:57, 6 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
That's a good idea for adding new releases to the next edition. August's newsletter will mark the 5th anniversary of the Project Newsletter (which first published in August 2008). I'm thinking of doing something special to mark the milestone, perhaps with a link to that very first edition for people to have a trip down memory lane. Anyhow, I'm guessing we are safe to publish? And thank you too for the good work. I've taken liberty to add your name to the editorial section of the newsletter too. Hope you don't mind. WesleyMouse 14:07, 6 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

That would be a good idea! I'll think of other ideas too, and we can discuss over the course of this month. Hopefully I can contribute more then. Mr. Gerbear|Talk 14:46, 6 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
